So guys i got the Gmade R1 kit as a gift that I requested because it just looked so awesome!!

So while i waited i did some research on it and found it excelled in looks but not much else! I looked for all the different option parts and then found out that the gears in this thing were weak and ended up with the only thing that is still on it that is original is the axles and the cage, the upper links, the hardware for the links, steering rod, tie rod, rims, and the chassis.

so as for the Gmade/Junfac/Other option parts:
Aluminum Axle skids front and rear
Aluminum Servo and battery axle mount front and rear
7 deg Aluminum Hubs front and rear
Aluminum Knuckles front and rear
Aluminum lower Link/Shock Mounts front and rear
Aluminum Upper Link mounts front and rear
High clearance lower links
Carbon steel drive shafts
Large battery mount/plate
Delrin skid
Rear Steer Kit (only used hardware and rods)
Team Integy Axial Wraith Transmission with all steel gears and dig kit
Gmade XD 103mm piggy backs
Hot Bodies Rover Tire-Rock Crawler white dots
Proline racing 2.2 2 stage rock crawling memory foam
Aluminum Body/Roof/Hood panels
Shock Brace
I think thats everything

Mods:
Steering mod
tie rods bent to clear diff covers
relocated body shock mounts

Servos:
Savox SC-0254 for dig
Savox SC-1256TG Steering

Motor/ESC/BEC:
Castle Creations 4000kV 4-pole
Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro
Castle Creation Basic BEC 10Amp?

TX/RX:
Fly-Sky GT3C w/overkillRc hack
Fly-Sky 6Ch

i was running 2x E-flite 3s 1350mAh i parallel...TOO much power.
i will be making custom battery mounts with more surface area over the axles and will be moving over to 2x Reaction 2s 4000mAh

i will edit this post again to link the steering mod thread and the Articulation thread

Enjoy!

Great looking crawler you have there amigo, looks good.

The battery you have on the front axle would be great for run time, but you'll find once you start going on steep inclines, there will be too much weight there.

I've noticed the difference between the rig being too heavy overall and too much weight over the front axle, but great work on the lipo and servo mount's, looking good."thumbsup"

did some more mods

Swapped out my 103mm gmade piggy backs for some HPI Savage big bore shocks

made a custom battery and servo mounting plate for the front and the rear.

i had to either shorten my upper links or stretch my lower links to make the battery and servo plate work,
i stretched the lowers.

is that an non sensored motor i spot if you are planning on running on rocks i would suggest running a tekin roc 412

Yes, it was. I swapped it for a rok 412 recently, the castle was just too much power and gave me way too much torque twist.

Thanks man, i guess i didn't post the pictures properly the last time but i have two packs one in the front and the rear.

like i mentioned i swapped out the motor for a roc 412, i added the JunFac CV joints on all four corners, added the JunFac wheel spacers, and swapped wheels for some all aluminum Integy wheels, i also swapped the draglink to give me more steering.

EDIT: i also had to address the drive shaft issue! by stretching it i had to combine the rear female half and front male to make a drive shaft long enough. needless to say i had to buy another set of driveshafts to get another working drive shaft.

Very nice. I really like my r1 too but struggling with getting the suspension smooth.and some articulation out of it. Was looking at your pics and may be stealing a few ideas.

gota love the roc motors good torque and speed for the cash and i love the looks

also how well does the fws work i've been looking into it as i stretched the wheel base on mine almost 2 inches to make a tow rig

also i recommend running car oil in the diffs as i have found it reduces wear on the locker and pinion

tee hee i am also running a tekin 27.5 turn gen 2 on 4s so i shred through gears :flipoff:

For the cash? i would hope so, its not a bargain motor, its top of the line, you get what you pay for.

as for the 4ws it is pretty BA, it is an improvement over the stock steering but it still turns like poop even with the mods done to the steering knuckles/draglink/cv joints , but it is neat to have. i dont know what radio system you have but my Flysky GT3C with the hack and 6ch radio is working great.

how did you come on that, you have got me curious? why not actual diff fluid? how do you keep it from seeping out the axles? i fortunately haven't ripped any gears but i broke a CV joint, that i have yet to replace.
