Quarry Creeper
hey guys I 've gotten allot of cool ideas from all of you some I'll be using in the future some I've already used so I wanted to say thanks....
I've done a couple mods to my "jeep" but first I'd like to share a couple "common problem" fixes that I had....
first my steering went bad it would only turn one way "well" and the other only when it wanted to. at first I thought it was a mechincal prob with the steering but then got to playing with the RC a little more on the rocks and thought that it could be a electrical prob in the remote. well after opening up the remote I found the problem it was a bad solder job on the steering "contact" it was loose and would'nt go to one side so I fixed th solder joint and now it steers better than it ever did...![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
next was my front diff went out well it would work when you picked up the jeep but when it was aginst anything the front would just "slip"...now here is where i wish I took some pics but sorry I did'nt...I opend up the front end and found the problem in the "last" reduction unit. there is a metal "disk" with 3 prongs that sits in grooves in the final gear well there was a lot of slop in ther and what happend was the metal "disk" spun on the gear and the little tabs that engage the gear just "cut" a groove. I took the gear that ended up geting a groove in it and fliped it over so the grove was on the "bottom side" away from the metal "disk" and put it all together then when I put the motor/reduction gear assembly back inplace I made a little spacer to take up some of the "slop" that there was in the end of the whole thing...I'll try and search for some pics of a open front end and photo shop in what I'm talkin about if anyone is intrested...
so now I have a perfect runing nylint crawler..![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
well I've also done a coupl mods (more to come), I lengthend out the rear 3/4" and the front 3/8" using some aluminum I turned down for the center piviot "link"...I also did a couple body mods, I dove tailed the rear, removed the front "fenders", fliped the tires, and replaced the "stock nerf bars" with aluminum slider/skids that run from under the door opening to the frame (will get pics of that later) I plan on giving it a paint job also...
anyway here is a couple pics of it out playing arround...
oh yea one quick question what type of glue is the best for putting the roll cage back together where I cut it, I had super glue on it but after a couple rolls it busted back loose ??
