hey guys I 've gotten allot of cool ideas from all of you some I'll be using in the future some I've already used so I wanted to say thanks....

I've done a couple mods to my "jeep" but first I'd like to share a couple "common problem" fixes that I had....
first my steering went bad it would only turn one way "well" and the other only when it wanted to. at first I thought it was a mechincal prob with the steering but then got to playing with the RC a little more on the rocks and thought that it could be a electrical prob in the remote. well after opening up the remote I found the problem it was a bad solder job on the steering "contact" it was loose and would'nt go to one side so I fixed th solder joint and now it steers better than it ever did... :)

next was my front diff went out well it would work when you picked up the jeep but when it was aginst anything the front would just "slip"...now here is where i wish I took some pics but sorry I did'nt...I opend up the front end and found the problem in the "last" reduction unit. there is a metal "disk" with 3 prongs that sits in grooves in the final gear well there was a lot of slop in ther and what happend was the metal "disk" spun on the gear and the little tabs that engage the gear just "cut" a groove. I took the gear that ended up geting a groove in it and fliped it over so the grove was on the "bottom side" away from the metal "disk" and put it all together then when I put the motor/reduction gear assembly back inplace I made a little spacer to take up some of the "slop" that there was in the end of the whole thing...I'll try and search for some pics of a open front end and photo shop in what I'm talkin about if anyone is intrested...

so now I have a perfect runing nylint crawler.. :)

well I've also done a coupl mods (more to come), I lengthend out the rear 3/4" and the front 3/8" using some aluminum I turned down for the center piviot "link"...I also did a couple body mods, I dove tailed the rear, removed the front "fenders", fliped the tires, and replaced the "stock nerf bars" with aluminum slider/skids that run from under the door opening to the frame (will get pics of that later) I plan on giving it a paint job also...

anyway here is a couple pics of it out playing arround...

oh yea one quick question what type of glue is the best for putting the roll cage back together where I cut it, I had super glue on it but after a couple rolls it busted back loose ??

looks good and i'm glad you got it running right. i like that when it broke you fixed it instead of making nylint send you a new one.

for putting the cage back together i used jb weld because i could get and glue to hold good enough.

What did u do to connect the back where it meets on the dovetail looks very clean.

hey guys thanks, yea I'm prety happy with the way the dove tail turned out too...it did'nt take that long to do, making the piece of aluminum to fit just right took the longest of all...I just cut out a 2" section out of the middle of the "tail gate" used a heat gun to get teh body to where I could bend it nicely and usee a little super glue to glue it back together oh yea I also used the piece that I cut out of the body for a "backing" allong the cut seam for a little extra support. I plan on using a little model body filler to clean up the seam a littel more when I paint the body so when it's painted you wont even be able to see where I cut it.

hey thanks...they actualy do work prety nice. I cut out a good 3/8" of body so got a little clearance there and not to mention they look beter than the "stock" tube ones...LOL...

using them a little bit ago...

well got it painted finaly.....man krylon needs to make some more colors for there "fusion" line of paint...LOL...

Looks great, nice job on the dovetail...the colors you picked look good, but yes Krylon needs to make a wider selection for the Fusioin paints!!!

Thanks !!

I just got another one (1:18 socrpion) and man I forgot how bad the stock suspension was...LOL...time to go make some more pieces to get things better...

what springs did you use in your shocks? also does the added length in the back help with flex? all in all a sweet jeep, i'm gonna have to fab up some of the rock rails you got, the plastic ones just stick to rocks. you may want to invest in some skid plates for your axels, when you get high centered on rocks it helps a ton

thanks for the compliments...

the springs are stock.....just "sharpied"....LOL...

the added length in the wheel base helps alot. like I said I just picked up a nother one (for the wife) and after playing with it in its stock form I'm going to do the same to hers and lengthn out the wheel base...if you flex up your stock suspension look at the "links" and you will see where they hit the axle. when you make the "pivot point" link longer those spots where the links hit the axle are gone so it lets it move that much nicer....and oh yea I also moved the rear shocks back about a half a inch they seemed to work better in there "stock" position than all leaned foward after I lengthend out the rear...

got any links to the axle skids ?? I don't realy get high centered too much but I do get hung up on the axles a bit...I just cut the coils tonight it droped the jeep 3/8" so I may have to look into a tummy tuck also...we'll see....
