Multi Port do all chargers?

Hello,

I was curious what multi port chargers you guys use? With plans to expand my arsenal of batteries, the need for a multi port charges has come up.

Having multiple toys that use all kinds of batteries, 90% of which will be lipos from 1s 800mah micros (quadcopter) and up to 3s 8000mah packs. Alone with a few Hobbico LiFe 6.6V 1900mAh packs for the Futaba 4PX I will pick up in the future.

Currently I use an Electrifly Triton EQ charger for my NIMH and 3S Lipo packs. I haven't tried charging the 1s micro lipos yet (can't figure out how). While it won't be replacing it, I did want to add in another charger to get more batteries done at once. I plan to get the Yeti XL very soon and wanted to charge four SPC 3S 5600mah packs.

I was set on the Dynamite Prophet Sport Quattro, which has 100 watts per port, or the Dynamite Passport Ultra Duo which has 200 watts per port. I've read several comments about the passport needing from 10-30 minutes to warm up and functions properly.

The Hitec X4 Plus is very often recommended, but I was thinking it couldn't keep up with the 3S 5600mah batteries.

While there are many options for single port chargers, I don't see too many with 2 or more ports.

I'd appreciate any recommendations you guys might have. The goal is to have an ac/dc charger without needing a seperate power supply.

lots of multi port chargers out their. definitely go with a 4 port butter to have more than u need. i run 2 x 2 ports that probably cost more than a good 4 port. i prefer htech chargers myself. get yourself a few of those octopus charging lead they have pretty much everything u need on 1 lead

Thanks, while I do like the Hitec X4 plus, 50 watts doesn't seem enough for my tasks. I'm sure it would be fine most of the time, but I wanted a charger that will also cover future batteries as well.

Good tip on the octopus leads. I have a few adapters, the oct leads would be useful.
I've had this one for several years and it works great. No issues. It will charge anything, and as quickly as i would want to safely charge any battery.

iMax Quattro B6 Charger 1-15 NiCd/NiMH cells; 1-6 Lipo/Lilon/LiFe cells;1-10 Lead-Acid cells(2V-20V)
Thanks! I'll look at that one "thumbsup"

What do you guys think about running a higher wattage dual port ac/dc charge and using a parallel board for multiple batteries?

I use a Hitec x4 Plus (largest wattage is a 3s 4000) and I will probably be okay for a while.

Consider: 50 watts is only the limit that the charger can put out; the battery can be larger but will just take more time.

I would try to keep one battery per port. I see 1s battery stacked up 4 or 5 in parallel all the time for micro planes, but I have only seen a parallel charging harness for regular sized batteries once, and that was on a Traxxas charger.

If a larger capacity, higher voltage (3s-4s) battery is really required for you vehicle, then I would get a powerful 2 port and just cycle your batteries around.

Thanks. I've added the hyperion 720i duo 3 list of things to look into.

Since these larger batteries will mostly apply to the yeti xl I will be picking up, charging in parallel shouldn't be too bad, considering I'd be charging two identical packs at once. Then I could use the other channels for smaller or different batteries.

Also having the Triton EQ charger already I could charge a third battery as well.

I use a thunderpower tp820cd, which is a dual port 800w charger that can do up to 20a either side. I also couple this with a parallel charge board.

TP820CD

Suits me great, as the largest battery I have is a 4000mah 5s pack which it can happily charge at 20a, and the smallest I regularly use are 1000mah 3s packs, which I parallel charge at 4a. Its great no matter which vehicle I feel like running I can have the packs ready to go from storage charge in 5-10 minutes depending on how much of a rush I'm in.

Thanks, I've been researching a lot these last few days. Really can't make up my mind. Haha now I'm looking that the power lab duo and icharger 4010. Hoping to make this the last charger I ever need, just in case I pick up other rc adventures.

Alright guys, I'll be going for the Powerlab 8X2 and Bump Controller (when it comes out). Will be using a Chargery S1200 to power it until I figure out a higher voltage solution. "thumbsup"

So much for staying in a budget range. Hanging out on this forum has made me want things triple (if not more) the price of what I originally planned. :lmao:

I just bought a Dynamite Passport Duo.. Have not received it yet, but watched the guy at my local hobby shop mess around with his after he got one and it seemed awesome.. Time will tell.. I sure hope it's nice.. Expensive!!

Yeah I was looking at that one, it's a nice charger.
