Hey,

Finally received my MST CMX kit last week. I'm not going to do a step by step build since there are already a few posted on this site. I'll just post some pics with initial impressions and thoughts about the kit.

I ordered the basic kit w/o body/motor/ESC. I planned to use my old Tamiya Jeep YJ body on this chassis. The build was straight forward. for the most part everything fit well. Since I was going to use the YJ body, I had the come up with a mounting system. Luckily, i still had the front mount clip from the CC01 kit. I used a ton of glued plastic to make extended crossmembers as my body mounts. works really well. I also had to flip the suspension links since the front of the yj is longer than the rear...

for wheels i'm using some 1.55 5 lug Rogue Element custom wheels with rc4wd rock crushers(?). I can probably fit a slightly bigger tire in there but want to keep it 1.55.

While making some inner fenders I put my old Blackfoot body over the MST Chassis. Just about fits...axles are a bit wide...

Man....that Blackfoot body looks awesome on there. How much too wide are the axles for that body?

The YJ looks great man. I ordered a CMX but I'm still waiting it to be here...maybe I need to do a YJ on it instead of one of the Lexan bodies...

Yeah I love how the blackfoot looks on that chassis. You'll see how small it is when you get your kit.

here are some photos to show how far the tires stick out.

I'm showing both the 1.55 rock crushers which measure out to 37 scale inches and the 1.55 MTZ which are 32 inches. the wheel hexes are around 6mm wide. I guess I could use some 5 or 4mm hexes to tuck in the tires a little. not the end of the world tho... looks good either way.

the MTZ would work better for a Class 1 build.

are you still using the stock battery tray? i ditched mine and just mounted it behind the shock towers scx10 style.

I use a 5000mah 2s and it fits fine behind the shock towers and lowers the cg noticeably, I did that and weighted to rims to get my yj cmx to crawl decently. But if the stock tray works for you, awesome.
