I picked up a Losi Mini 8ight this past weekend. I had a mini e-revo and liked the size and speed of it. Then I saw the mini 8ight being released, had to get one.

I picked up a 3s lipo as well for it. Can't keep it on the wheels with a good high C-rated 11.1 lipo.

Here are some reference pictures up to it's 1/8th brother.
This little buggy is like a cat, it stays on all fours. Flys flat and settles quick. The shocks are butter smooth.

Had some carnage. Broke a shock rod end when I hit a small curb at full speed. And the mini was flipped over and big brother 1/8 8ight ran into it and broke the knuckle mount :ror: . Replacement parts on the way.

Some features from Losi's site.
  • LiPo compatible brushless ESC
  • 4500Kv brushless motor
  • Spektrum SR300 receiver with 2.4GHz DSM technology
  • 4WD shaft-driven drivetrain
  • Front and rear metal gear differentials
  • Mini servo with saver
  • Aluminum, threaded oil-filled, coil-over shocks
  • Heavy duty, 2.5mm anodized aluminum chassis
  • Mini Kingpin™ treaded tires
  • 2.5mm aluminum shock towers
  • 12mm wheel hexes
  • Aluminum motor mount
  • Heavy-duty adjustable turnbuckles
  • Chassis dirt guards

Thanks for the pictures, RockedUpRicky.

The motor is a little 4500kv brushless and the ESC handles 3s like a champ. I bashed through a 3S 1000mah pack for about 10 minutes in grass and on concrete and the motor was barely warm.

It was $274 with tax in AR. Right now, it seems well worth it. It is put together really well with the right hop up parts in the right places. And it has a "quality" feel to it. The shocks are amazing. It would be perfect for small indoor tracks were bigger 4x4 trucks can't run.

The Losi Radio feels cheap and the radio batteries (4 AA's) for it only last 3 minutes, literally. The stock 7.4 battery would be ok for small tight tracks or a beginner just bashing. Not going to break any speed records with it. A 2S lipo wakes it up and a 3S lipo it gets a little bit uncontrollable.

It's geared up a little much but that's not bad if you wanna bash. They have a 3 spur set that is like $4, I ordered a set to mess with the gearing. The wheels are very close to 1.9 size, if not 1.9's. Parts are crazy cheap.

Oh, it was hanging with it's 1/8th big brother that was running a 5S lipo in drag races. I put in a 45C 3S lipo and it I couldn't keep it on 4 wheels.

Any comparison pictures with your mini revo? What are your thoughts comparing the two as I a contemplating selling my merv and getting one of these.

These things look awesome.

Many people on RCTech are saying it is the best mini out. Tough as nails, fast and fun as can be. No glaring weak points. Maybe the servo saver could be improved, but that is about it.

Sorry, need to subscribe to this thread. Just jumped on here to show a friend the comparison to the 8ight.

No comparison shots. Sold off the Mini Revo a year or so ago. This buggy is waaaaaayyyyyy better than the Mini Revo in the durabiltiy and handling dept. This mini 8ight is like cat, always landing on all fours.
Only thing I broke from jumping off a skate ramp at 15' was the rear shock rod ends!

It is all that you mentioned. Yep, the steering drag link is like diameter of pencil lead, super thin but it's holding up to 3S (45c) and my driving. Servo saver seems fine to me so far.

The suspension travel is super smooth and the shocks are cycle like butter.
Someone really knew what they were doing when they set this truck up at the factory!

nice!8)

i was wondering how they handled..

You'd be surprised. At full speed it will just kinda tip toe on it's rear wheels on semi-rough ground.
Jumping is great too. If you get squirrely on take off, a quick blip of throttle or brake and it's flat for landing.
The ass-end is kinda light for bashing. It will spin around pretty quick on a good 3S lipo.

This video shows how "flat" it stays whilst handling some jumps, etc. Not my video.
Notice just about everytime he flips it or it starts to wreck it lands upright!

3S 25c lipo.

Like a cat! @ 1:00. Can't really get on it with a good high burst 3s. It will just flip.
