Linear Servos

I would bet the RC semi and RC construction guys know much more about linear actuators than crawling and scaling guys. If you are on Facebook I'd checkout some construction groups and ask the question there. Or maybe you can still find some active RC construction forums.

I've used these on a few tonka trucks I've converted to rc. I did a lot of research but never found a cheaper alternative. If you find one please post up.

I reached out to the scale semi and construction RC group I am in on FB. They were pretty much unanimous, the linear servo I linked is the kind they use. There are others out there, but none that have the power and reliability.

As a last resort you could reach out to robotics guys, but the construction guys have a good handle on that stuff.

This is a good site to buy robotics/RC parts if you haven't already checked it out: https://www.pololu.com
