Hi, I plan on building my 1st scale truck. I bought an scx10 honcho kit and a f350 hard body. I want a light system but don't know much about it. I'd like to have 4 to 6 front lights, 2 tail lights and 5 lights rollbar. Any suggetions will be appreciate. Thanks.

chaotic crawlers.....has lights at awesome prices. I bought a 6 light harness for $18 shipped. it comes with a 9 volt battery lead so you can run it completely seperate from your other electronics.

send him a pm, his communication is awesome "thumbsup"

if you can solder, make your own! just takes leds, wire, solder, and some sort of power source for them

ive got 8 lights on my rig and its verry easy to wire them up

The 3RACING LED SYSTEM as mentioned by "THE CRAWLER KING", is installed in my truck. I am very happy with it. Comes with everything you need including snaps and double stick tape (can't remember if ya got zipties to?). You do have to fab some light buckets (i used lexan and duck tape ;-)). Works great, turn signals, brakes and headlights, all that's missing is running lights. Instructions were in english and easy to follow "thumbsup".
I also have some RAM lights for a roll bar, very good quality. The RAM company makes some cool stuff. Things I haven't seen anywhere else, check em out.
Then there Tamiya lighting kits. I think some of the Tamiya kits to be in a whole other class. The price you pay. You could build another crawler or two. This is just my opinion of course.
You could go to your locale electronics store and make your own light string. Its not to hard. Just a bit more work :). Good luck with whatever you decide.
On a side note if ya want some funky ground effects. Align cold light strings work great!

Ah ha let the fun begin. Heres a couple more links for your learning pleasure :).

I skimmed through these looked like good beginner knowledge. Try Google'n "wiring lights in parallel or series". I'd read up a bit and make a trip to radio shack.
Mabye even get yourself a basic circuit kit with a breadboard. So you can play around with other circuit designs.
The easiest route would be to call up an Electrician buddy. They could show you the ways of the walk. Bring beer "thumbsup".

heres a simple one i drew up that is close to how mine are set up, i just have more lights, and 6 vlots is pleanty bright

my RC4WD light system did not work with my 2.4 Spektrum. My new Axial system works but very clunky. I could never find a neutral spot for my signals so one side was always flashing so now they are just running lights.

LET THERE BE LIGHT.....
You can plug a LOT of leds on a single switch, and on a single 9V battery.
Here is my setup in my summit....
All the leds are on a single 9V battery and switch.

Now the list of leds:
4 5mm Stock leds on the bumber
4 5mm stock leds on the roof light bar
7 5mm 100.000mcd leds on the front bumber
6 5mm 100.000mcd leds on the light bar on the front
4 8mm 280.000mcd leds (2 on bumber 2 where the painted headlighs are)
2 10mm 290.000mcd leds on the front bumber

So that makes a total of 27 front leds with more or less 3.640.000mcd....

Save yourself the trouble and talk to Bill over at http://www.billscustomrclighting.com/

He can make you any type of lighting setup you want, and for cheap. I am running a light kit of his on my F350 SCX10 and it is top notch. Never had any problems with it whatsoever and the quality of his kits are great.

I agree that Bill's offers a great custom built light kit to fit any need. Great quality and great price. Here's 7 5mm white leds and it has 2 3mm red leds in the rear.

So did you end up making your own LED string then? Ya wanted quite a bit of lights. How did your wiring job turn out? Did you connect it to a 9v battery or your 6v receiver. Maybe strait solder to a battery plug lead?

Lol I went bashing today, and my buddy busted off one of my headlight buckets. Back to the fab shop for me ;-).
