This is about the 5th revision of the idea or so over the years, so here it goes…

The idea is for a tow behind/pto tractor style brush cutter. The first versions were pretty crudely built but did okay. I’ve used plane props, my quad props, 9” edger blades, trimmer line, and razer blade screwed to 3D printed arms (which the idea of if actually scares the crap out of me now).

It’s a 9x12 cake pan with a solid rod reinforced around the edge, it gives it the rigidity for a good base now. The top vibrates just a bit but could be stiffened up pretty quickly. Motors are 550 (27t u think) direct to a 2s, 3s is just crazy fast.

I had searched for what seems like forever but think I found the right setup. Having used prop adapters before it was quick and easy to change out old ones. The world of electric electric edger blades are a perfect fit. And the ones I found were a perfect match for prop adapters (5mm I think). I need to check the CC or CCW if the adapters as one just spins off when cutting. I could just flip the wiring if they are opposite if what they should.

On to the wheels I’d want adjustable I. Some sort of crawler or tractor implement but having a hard time coming up with a solution for it. I was thinking on a single front caster style, and two rears. In the past I’ve used airplane landing gear and old skateboard wheels.

The 3 extra mounting holes are in there as my dumb fault when I was punching them not paying attention to the opening I cut previously, Having a 1-2 cut.

Flat on the ground it has a 1.5” cut height and about 14” path.

Man your brain must work overtime. Mine always does on projects like these... and this one is way cooler than just about anything I've done. Awesome idea and looks quite functional. Nice job.

Thanks for the kind words. I usually feel sorry for my brain for what I put it through, but that’s entirely a different story lol. It’s still a work in progress, just like everything else and will be modified later too I’m sure. My mower is getting old, and started puffing blue smoke the other month so I thought I better get a move on the project since I had ordered the parts a long time ago. It is a very functional cutter.

I have a smaller patch of grass at the house we built so mowing with this shouldn’t take very long ~15 minutes or so.
