Made some changes to my existing Throttle Therapy kit build.

I started by printing the latest files from James Knight, the Terra Bug. It's clear he spent a lot of time creating and perfecting these files. The fit and finish is really, really good and includes inner fender panels that are zip-tied into place for a very clean look. I spent about a tenth the time smoothing these panels with a resin top coat, instead of sanding the PLA. Smooths everything out really nicely without eliminating the detail. Highly recommend this process.

After smoothing, I painted the entire set of panels in a few different browns to simulate rust. Then using the salt method, applied my topcoat colours of teal and black. After that cured, I washed the panels in warm water revealing the rust underneath. Super easy and a very believable look.

I really like the Throttle Therapy livery, so using my Cricut, I re-created what existed and airbrushed everything. No decals here!

The rear motor, while not 100% accurate, is a nice addition to the kit. It also features a full interior replacement, with options for a couple different drivers. I haven't gotten to that yet.

Running a Hobbywing Fusion 2300kv 2-1, and a Reefs Smart 900 for steering. Also added the VP Hurtz Dig V2.

Can you point to any references for the resin top coat method? I can sort of guess at what you're doing, but probably wrong ...

Yep, that video does a good job of describing the very simple process. Note, I did try it without talcum/baby powder - I don't recommend it, that little extra bit of viscosity helps tremendously.
