ISDT Q6 Pocket Charger

I just came across the ISDT Q6 charger as I wanted a 2nd charger for doing smaller packs. $57 on Amazon. Super easy controls with a few cool features like you can adjust the amps while you are charging, internal resistance measuring, PC Upgrades with a $8 dongle they sell. Plus packs some decent power for how small it is. The screen is Super bright. You can adjust the voltage on all the battery options, discharge, storage, charging to higher or lower voltages. Overall pretty happy with it.

I’ve been looking at these isdt chargers for a while now. Cheap and good output with pretty good reviews. Good to see you’re enjoying.
 
Wow, that looks like a killer charger for just $60. That should do >11A on a 6S and 14A on 5S and below. Their PSU isn't a fantastic deal, but you can usually find converted server psu's cheaper.

Definitely keep us updated.
 
I've looked at them as well, but I hate chargers that require an external power supply. At $60 you can get an AC/DC charger all day long with a build in power supply. Obviously that charge rate is lower on those though. But this might be a good option as a second charger.
 
It's really not a big deal, I scored two 10A chargers $11 that I ran off DC for a while. They needed fuses because the internal PSU shorted on the case. I've seen other people with $100 in junk because the internal PSU took out more than the fuse.

I've charge a couple packs and it works great. I ordered some cables so I can share my power supply, I want to try parallel charge a couple 4s 6700 SMC packs at max amps. See how it does.
 
I got to parallel charge my 4s 6700 packs at 14 amps and everything went good. My packs were in storage mode 3.80 volts per cell and it took about 35mins to charge them completely.

I noticed on the 1st screen, it shows the input and output voltage with watts being used. This pic is at 24 mins into charging and shortly after it started to reduce the amps as it was getting close to 4.20 volt per cell. I noticed the fan kicks on at 59c and cools it down to 52c pretty quick.

That thing looks really nice. I have a hitech x4ac plus that works great. I just wish it showed internal resistance. May have to sell it and get a few of these.

I think I'll be buying one soon. I don't have anything to measure internal resistance and knowing how much juice it takes will be nice too.

has anybody looked at their new t8 charger? It is a 1000w 30a charger for only $99. Seems like a great bargain. I would be able to charge 6 4300 packs at more than 1c. or 26 amps and still be under its full capacity. Super nice little charger.
 
How quickly do these balance the packs when charging?

I have a couple of different chargers and some of them take forever to charge the pack from about 4.15V per cell to full, probably because they can only do about .1A on the balance output. Most of the ISDT chargers can do 1A on the balance output which should drastically shorten the time to get the pack fully charged and balanced.

Does balancing at a higher rate lead to less accurate balancing?
 
If the charging software is properly designed, it shouldn't. The high end iChargers balance at 1.2A/cell and they are some of the best on the market.
Cool. Thanks for the info. Faster balancing would be awesome. That's the part of charging that takes forever!
 
You don't HAVE to leave it on til it's balanced, you just need them balanced close if you intend to run the weakest cell below a safe voltage. In fact ending the charge and discharge cycles by 0.1 volt early can literally double the useful life of Lipo's. My chargers have a fast-charge mode that cuts out most of the balancing time but they don't get to absolute max capacity. If your batteries are that far off near the end then you likely have one or more bad cells.
 
I picked up an ISDT FD-100 80W Discharger and BG-8S Battery Checker as I wanted something to to discharge my packs automatically. I frequently have packs that need to be discharged or run the pack in my car, but life gets busy and I cant. This thing is cool. You plug you pack into it, set the voltage 2s - 8s and amps .05 to 8amps and it will discharge your pack to 3.80 volts. This does not balance the cells while you discharge but that is not a big deal. I did try adding the Battery Checker to balance the pack while discharging. It seemed to balance no problem. When it balances, the screen is green and when its complete its blue. On this pack it took 18mins. I discharged the same 6700 4s pack and it took about 35 mins to discharge it to 3.80 volts. The internal fan was running about 90% of the time and would change RPM.

I think i will pick up another charger off this brand next year, but until then i will have to make do with my Hyperion charger.
