just curious as i know there's a few people on here that use their smart phone for this site, hence the tapatalk or ctalk signatures.

have you jailbroken or rooted your smart phone yet?

if not, but you know about it why not?
if you have, why'd you do it?

i just rooted a metro pcs huawei ascend last night, i gotta say, even with a max of 600mhz, its still smoother then before, i have been able to freeze and/or uninstall bloatware (pesky crap apps) and get rid of adds in the free apps. i can overclock my cpu, set a minumum, and have a memory dump when needed or set it to my sd card and dump on a schedule.

im in the process of making my own theme, messing with a font/text size rom, getting rid of the language keyboard options (as well as swype) and adding benders axial exo jump video as the boot/load screen.

so, those with the supersmart phones, if you've rooted/jailbroken, what have you done with it so far?

cool, the iphone ios always has been awesome. even with the first gen and its bugs. i had the 3g, never jailbroke it, the ipod touch got jail broken. then got free text messaging

i just like fukin with chit...........................................and im broke....

just wanted to see if anyone like messing with their phones as much as their rigs, like me

iPhone 3gs (ballin white one of course), 2 years old, used and abused... not jaibroken, I don't feel the need to do it since I still love it as it is, does everything I need it to do.

I have a jailbroke iphone that I use to talk on lol good reason to have a smart phone huh

long time hende,
with it being jailbroken, you can just about change anything on it. you can turn it into a wifi hot spot, download video editor software, garage door opener, depending on your contract, a voip/wifi texter.

but then again, if your just making calls and it gets the job done without interruption "thumbsup"

I rooted my previous Android phone specifically for screenshots and WiFi hotspot duties. It still sucked, the OS is so unintuitive but I digress. Looking forward to a 4s, still miss my 3g. Maybe I'm old but it doesn't seem there's a tremendous need for rooting/jailbreaking.

I jailbroke my iPhone 4 and loved it, made it alot more capable.

But... I recently undid it and went for the new update, and so far i have not rejailbroke it, but I am going too. I have heard and read real good things about the new breaks and I heading that way!

ive heard you can get very good slow-mo capabilities with the 4s jailbroken, did you see anything on the cydia or whatever app with that 666?

With Cydia, yes I could get cool slo-mo and other great video options. I'm hearing that with the new update, Cydia is not the best option though.

And I don't have a 4s. I have a 4.

Right now I have a Motorola Atrix and have not messed with it yet because of warranty. My buddy has same phone, and rooted and put a rom on it as soon as it was available. He is now able to overclock up to 1.3 (safely) and keeps bugging me about doing mine, I just dont want to yet.

I had an old Windows HTC Fuze that we messed with severly and got it running android 2.1 with the market and everything. Was pretty baller at the time. I was able to overclock it to around 800mhz.

Got a 4s and a 3GS... Never jail broken either of them.
Have been thinking about doing it lately but not sure what's the best way to go about it... Tethered, untethered etc.
It's like cracking the psp... Choosing your method is about as involved as choosing your firmware.

I've been jailbreaking my iphones for a while. I would never go back to unjailbroken. Even IOS5 wasn't worth giving up my features.....so I just waited till they jailbroke it....took longer than normal, but whatever.

Your phone becomes way more capable......and Installous makes everything more fun:mrgreen:

Never set your phone up tethered. Unless you like getting stuck with no phone if it crashes while yer out and about with no computer.

Any of the popular jailbreak methods work fine, just google jailbreak iphone.....greenposion or redsnow are two popular options. NEVER pay for any jailbreak software, it should ALWAYS be free.

Remember to back up before doing it!

Later EddieO

greenpo1son wont jail break iphone 3g, unless they updated it. my phone sucks!!! it stays "overclocked" at 600mhz.... ive set it so max is 600 and min is 600, never uses over 82% usage now that the bloat ware is gone. just installed a text rom, kinda cool, i can change fonts (all fonts, system, apps, etc) in under 45sec, with reboot, now im trying to figure out how to set up multiple fonts, like hollyhills.ttf for system, pepsi.ttf for text, etc.

tried a couple nonroot slomo apps, suck. looking at xdadevelope for the apps, found a kickarse video editor, 57mb empty

updated phone to cm7.2, overclocked @ 710mhz
boot clip- huawei ascend - YouTube

still working on my own custom boot.zip, 649 pictures to convert from .jpeg to .PDN or something of that sort,

bringing my thread from the grave, retired the hauwei ascend and got a lg esteem :)
benchmarked at 4647, best so far overclocked at 1705. going to tweak the kernel and see what else i can pull out of it.
lg esteem, broken out rom, black plague overclocking kernel (2.2ghz) universal android adrenaline shot XIX. new 16gb class 6 or 8 sd card, wanted a class 10/32gb but it was out of stock :/

this new phone is the shizzit. got the 3600mah extended battery, i can use it all day, streaming, playing gta3, etc, and it will last from 7am to 10pm, easily.
