I picked up one of the HPI things. Not bad out of the box RTR.

Upgrades are preferred

The stock shocks are superb.

Test run.

Great rig with some upgrades. Honestly out of the box it only needs tires and and steering servo. Stock steering servo is terrible as are the tires.

Nice colour body. The Venture drives well stock, but a few mods and it's really good.

Initially I'd agree, but recently put them back on and gave them a chance and was shocked to say the least. The tread put me off visually at first but now properly ran in they stick to most things and clear mud quickly. Give em a chance you may be surprised!

nice looking blue you have there. Do you have a link to the tamiya headlight bezel mod you spoke about?

i read that the tires, once worn down a bit are terrific. i only got mine a couple of days ago, but this is my favorite truck. its so much fun. i have about 15 rc cars, from all different classes, and this is my first crawler. i was surprised how much fun i had going 2mph

Thank you! The Tamiya FJ Cruiser body parts tree which includes the bezel fits perfectly. You need to cut out the crummy looking molded bezel and glue in the tamiya one. I think it looks way better.

Ty for the info. It sounds like something I would probably mess up. And since I cant seem to find another body in the sand color right now, I dont think I want to risk it

So my 9 year old daughter absolutely loved wheeling my HPI Venture FJ Cruiser. She did very well controlling it for her first time. She was super careful and learned a lot. She wants one.

Such a great rig that sadly never got the love it deserved from HPI, the aftermarket nor the people. That's all HPI's fault with the huge delay in getting it to the market and then going under what seemed to be shortly after.

Glad to see your daughter likes it. New trail buddy!

I agree. It was rumored for so long before the actual release. I actually love the truck and set up. Out of the box it competes with Axial’s scx10 ii. This really could have been a huge competitor.
