What would you put in yours?

Thinking HH CMv3 and the new 10pole motor.
CMv3 says 8lb limit for the most part.
Origin dry weight (no electronics/tires/foams/addons/battery) is about 5.5lbs dry weight.

Then there is Tekin RX4, HW AXE or Fusion Pro, etc.

What are you or would you put into the H10 Origin.

Maybe John Homles can chime in with his thoughts on the CMv3 in an Origin.

I have a Reefs Triple 8 4s DP Servo for steering and an IS:800 should I want to install a winch into it.
Will not be 4WS.
There are the Q Series head lights. I'll likely add some type of rear tail bar or lights and possibly rock lights controlled by a channel and an on/off switch (electronic).

Whats everyone else's thoughts?

I hadn't really thought that far ahead when I ordered.

I looked at servos a bit today. I'm thinking I'll skip direct power on this one and try either a reefs 800lp, or an nsdrc rs650. Both of those feel like massive overkill for a rig I'm expecting to baby.

For the motor I'll probably stick with a fusion pro. It's not sexy, but considering how and where I'm actually going to drive this thing it seems appropriate.

I'll just add that I tried out a Tekin RX4 ESC and was really let down. Its not smooth on start up, no way to fine tune a throttle curve just pre set options IIRC and way too expensive. I demoted my RX4 to basher duty. Tekin is crossed off my list of crawler ESCs.

What I'm thinking personally is to hold tight in hopes that the new HH CrawlMaster V2 motor evolves into a 2 in 1 which has been hinted at. I dont know if 3 months is enough time for that to happen but fingers crossed.

As for servos I still want direct power. I'm waiting on Homes or NSDRC to restock or maybe make some revisions.

If anyone missed it JRH just posted up a thread on direct power servo failures, its worth checking out: Direct power servos getting killed by small 4s lipo

Ya, the RX4 is a great ESC, but not for crawling though its to totally shit, it has lots of room for crawling improvements. Got one in my Rfyt with a 2300HD ROK412 motor and it doesn't do bad, but its not super at the SLOW roll. Plenty of wheel speed when needed thought. lol

Everybody bagging on the Tekin stuff...I commented on their post of a 1S ESC and told them to come to the crawler niche which is super popular. They said it is hard to compete in this space and they seem like they want nothing to do with it. OK so I'll go elsewhere. The ROC412 was great. And their brushed ESCs are great for the right application, but otherwise they gave up on crawling so I've given up on Tekin. Their servos, like Hitec, are also overpriced for what you get with them I MO.

Its gotten really hard to compete in the niche. 4p has dropped off a cliff on popularity unless its the hobbywing foc style. takes a long time to get FOC right and both castle and tekin are so long into standard 4p and block commutation that it would be like starting the entire business from scratch again to go that route. I understand the difficulty very well, and have only stayed competitive with the brushed and outrunners plus am32 over the last 2 years.

I can't even imagine. I definitely don't envy being in your tough spot competing with China in the electronics industry.

Its sad to see how far castle and tekin have fallen in this part of the hobby. They used to be the best but they haven't put much effort into innovation in a while. The rx4 came out in what 2017? Around the same time as the mamba x. The only new crawlerish esc from them is the copperhead. Hobbywing is on what.... their third revision of esc since ~2019? And they actually listen to the consumer.

The fusion pro would by my choice for an origin.

I did go with the HH CMv3/3000kv 10pole combo.
I want to better waterproof the ESC so will add conformal coating to the board, or seal up the ends of the clear shrink and wrap it in a balloon so it is better protected.

Dont plan on any swimming but wading will likely have to occur, and being in Michigan, can't really avoid the dampness considering I'm nearly in a swamp. lolol

I have the HW R3 AXE/2800 combo in the Optic and it's got a very very slow wheel speed. I mean Slow as in it would take more than a minute to traverse a foot of distance at the slowest speed I can make it go, but the 2800 has nearly instant go power when you want it.

I'm eager for the Origin to show up.

Oh ima get in on these for sure! Looks like I’m getting back into the hobby at the right time. Win for me! And us all of course, get some John!

Bogger, I have 2 rigs that have similar combos in them. I have a Mamba X/Puller Pro V2 Stubby 2200 in my UMG10, but previously had that combo in my Capra for several years. I also have a Copperhead/Puller Pro V2 2200 standard side that’s been in one of my TRX4 trucks. Both are amazing combos, actually run noticeably quieter than other brands of motors that I’ve paired with either esc, and have both giving really good slow speed control. Definitely watch the video Holmes did a few years back showing how he programs Castle escs. Made me mess with the throttle curves more than I was normally comfortable doing, but really made improvements with the escs low speed control.
