I've read about the problems that others have had with building Gmade G-Transition shocks. Specifically, the process of compressing the shock while tightening the seal cartridges. My solution is to use a Quick-Grip clamp to hold the shock in the compressed state as I tighten the seal cartridge. It works perfectly.

Thanks. I ended up opening them and dumping the oil. The shocks are way too damped with the oil provided in the kit. Maybe with softer springs and a 10 weight oil they would be ok.

I think I may do the same. Next online order I make, I'll be getting some 10/20 oil to see if that helps out at all.

I'm not a good person to ask. This is my first crawler. But with 5 or 6 drops of oil in each shock, I feel like they are sufficiently soft and have a fair amount of travel. I don't have any plans to replace them anytime soon. If you go with them, install them upside down. It reduces their chances to leak, and it puts the heavier part of the shock lower down (for lower CG.)

I've heard of people running no Springs and just the oil in them, they all seem pretty happy with that setup, I've also heard of people running Springs and just enough oil to keep it internals lubed and cycling smooth... Basically it's a crawler and really doesn't need much in terms of dampening and it has no passengers so it doesn't need a smooth ride.

I tried it and hated it, since it had no spring it would get stuck in any small hole

I used teflon tape and had no problems. Really only installed them upside down to lower CG and remove weight from sprung mass.
