Hi guys sorry its been so long since I've been on. My favorite truck my VS4-10 Ultra was stolen from me and I've been pretty down about it. However I decided to pull out my old Wraith I bought as a first truck. Complete noob to the sport when I bought it. Got it used off ebay advertised as a rtr. I saw steel chassis and some cheap aluminum upgrades with cheap duratrax deep woods tires and aftermarket electronics not knowing any better I thought it was a badass rig and had to have it.

Still new but not as big a noob I quickly learned that those aluminum parts I was sold on are junk, and the electronics were well on their way to the scrap yard themselves. Needless to say once I learned all this I was seriously disappointed and instead of buying new parts and fixing the wraith I bought my first kit a VS4-10 Ultra and a cheap goolrc brushless motor/esc with mid range spektrum reciever. Fell in love with it immediately and it out performed my wraith hands down. So the wraith became a shelf queen.

Fast forward a few months and I buy a castle brushless motor/esc combo for the VS4-10 and decided to liven up the wraith which had a 27 turn redcat motor in it that was going out and running on a NiMH battery. I put the brushless motor that I was using the 3500kv goolrc motor/esc into the wraith with a 50C 3S lipo. First run ripped the transmission gears to shreds, so I bought a vanquish scx10 ii aluminum housing and and incision steel gears.....next drive twisted the rear driveshaft in half literally. So on the shelf it went broke and defeated.

Another couple months and I buy stainless steel driveshafts for it. Decide I'm going to my favorite crawling location the local lake just below the dam. I take both my wraith and my VS4-10. Get there and decide to see whats going to break on the wraith before I get to have some real fun with the VS4-10. Long story short my wraith snapped an axle on the front and my truck was stolen while I was crawling and my VS4-10 was still in my truck.

I got disappointed and decided to go with flying RC bought a plane, collective pitch heli, and 2 balsa plane kits I'm converting to RC. Absolutely love them but missed my trucks so I decided to go buy new cvd axles for the front of my wraith and I got rid of those worthless aluminum links and bought the Incision stainless links and I bought some new mickey thompson xls for it. Also decided I wanted something fast so I bought my first nitro monster truck I bought a 2.5 T-Maxx and absolutely love it!!!

Ok if you are still with me at this point sorry that was kinda long winded. I have some questions and I am hoping for some advice on how to setup my wraith. I've watched videos of these things doing things that VS4-10 wouldn't dream of.

My questions:

1. Does foam really make that big of difference? I see so many duel stage foam, hard foam, soft foam and so on. Which brings me to question number

2. What are the different types of foam and why?

3. What's the best foams to use for an all around vehicle? I bash, trail, and technical crawl with the wraith.

4. What are the best mods to help my wraith perform better?

Think i seen you show this wraith on here before.
Best thing to do, is to lower it. It's sitting way to high, probably tips over alot. Generally you want the lower links to be parallel with the ground when the truck is static. You probably need shorter and softer shocks from the looks of it. If you can,mount the top of the shocks more towards the center of the truck, that will help. I don't have much advice on foams, but can tell you your lockers, ring and pinion, and bearings will go fast when you have brushless power in these. I have 2, one on 3s with a 3200kv motor, and one on 4s with a 3800kv motor. Prepare to invest in beefing up the rest of your driveline. When you do, i suggest underdrive for the rear gears. And fyi, the largest 32p spur you can run with the cover on, is 60t. You can go to 64t without a cover. (Incase you are looking to gear down)

Thanks Steveg for the help. Yes I've posted it once before when I first bought it. I've been thinking about buying a set of 90mm Integy piggyback shocks for it but didn't want to go shorter. I thought taller shocks would incorporate more suspension flex allowing for better performance.....LOL, I am still a noob I see with a lot to learn. As for gearing down I've already put in a Robinson Racing 10T pinion and 57T spur gears. Seems to handle the power fine with plenty of low end when I crawl.

Another option is a droop kit. Forgot to mention it earlier. I have a droop kit on one of mine to lower it while still using longer shocks.
