My bully will undergo some changes for 2013.
Some weight reduction and, I hope, a new chassis.
First thing to do is to put it on a scale as it is now, RTR
After that the parts that are getting some "love" at this moment.
These are cast.
First was to make some new "air space" on the motor side of the case.
After that was to make a BIG "air space" on the other side.
It's only the first cut that hurts...:mrgreen:
Puff, all gone.
The result on the case. By my calculations I lost about 38% of weight on the case that I cut that bit off. Maybe I'll do the same mod to my LW back case, 38% is a lot!
With the case closed we can see that the gears are still very well protected against impacts.
After that I started brainstorming a battery mount made out of 1.5mm lexan.
So far 6g but it will be less than that because it's way to big. "thumbsup"
I liked the case mod since I saw it over here on RCCrawler but I didn't like the idea of having the gears exposed so that little rocks or sand could get in so easy. Time to make a cover!
All done (the white stuff is from the superglue)
All the protection needed and a nice weight
So far that's what I have but I should have some more developments on the next few months, due to my work it will be a slow build...
