do any of you guys think the emaxx can handle nitro power!
im building something! and i want to be able to shift it from 1 st to second!
and reverse is not a problem!
And no its not a crawler!
but i might do a brushless on it for simplicity "thumbsup"

The E-maxx tranny has wider gears then the T-maxx.
My Tranny isn't really a E-maxx tranny anymore, but even when I ran stock output gears, The force needed to strip the gears was more then a Nitro can produce. You can quote me on it and I will prove it if you don't believe me.
A Nitro Clutch can not transmit enough torque to do any damage.
Unless your full throttle off a sweet jump and land bad.
The main problem would be heat and friction.
I started crawling with a T maxx, I know you say its not going to be a crawler but think about it.
A Nitro has to have over 10,000R's to start making power. Much of that power from the engine is wasted in the clutch by means of heat energy. An Electric motor makes close to full torque at any RPM.
Two electric motors produce WAY more startup torque then a nitro.
So it only makes sense that the E tranny is far more stout.
With a nitro motor on an E, or even a fast brushless setup, you will more then likely heat the gears because of the speeds involved causing a failure of the plastic gears. RC4WD aluminum gears and lube would solve this but you still have the problem of shifting.
Steel Idler gears are mandatory even for a stock E maxx.
What I mean is the E is stronger then the T but the T is designed for nitro.
If you put a nitro infront of an E your asking for trouble.
The E is very stout but not designed to operate at those speeds.
The ONLY reason people use a t maxx tranny is the fact that is it low geared. Atleast thats the only reason I can see. IMO they are JUNK.
I run a 2.5HP brushless outrunner at 120 to 1 through my E-maxx Patlas tranny on 13.2v A123 cells. I can't see it ever failing. But thats slow.
My Scorpion 3032 would scramble a T tranny in a matter of seconds.
Yeah I built my own output gear from scratch but RC4WD has them too. Infact, if you wanted to use the first gear second gear then you would need the RC4WD gears to allow for the both gears. Plastic would NEVER tolerate the shock loads.
*Its not geared low enough. It will be a DOG off the line.
*Shifting will be an act of luck and a POWERFUL servo as the nitro's clutch will have drag and not allow it to shift smooth.
*When/if it does shift, the shock load will likely destroy it.
If you used it as a manual range select, you would be ok maybe, but if its fast your after, get a nitro tranny.
To hook a servo to the shift and try for shift on the fly, I don't think its very possible as a good candidate.
Use a Nitro tranny for a nitro motor, they are designed for it.
You are going to have more trouble then it is worth trying to put a nitro on a E Maxx tranny. "thumbsup"
