So I’ve been out of the crawling scene for awhile but sort of kept up with what’s new online. When I saw the Capra was released, I decided I needed one lol. Fast forward a bit and got one of my own and have got it to a roller. This will be a slow budget build so I don’t know when I’ll have it running. Was a very straight forward, easy build except the trans took a bit of messing with to get it to turn freely. I did do a few things different then a standard Capra to suit me and the area I run.
Stretched the WB to 13-1/8”
Ti rear lower links
Proline scaler shocks with Capra standoffs on the rear, belly height is 2-1/4” now.
Chanquish wheels with proline swamper XL in predator compound, CI DD 4.5” foams.
Cheap DS 35kg servo/Alu horn and DS dig servo
Mip driveshafts
Brass knuckle weights and alu servo mount are in the mail from China
Plans are to go with a flysky gt5 radio and a castle mamba micro with either a 1900 or 2200 Kv motor on 3s, or, a hw 1080/Holmes brushed motor of some sort. I’m interested to hear recommendations!

I have the Micro X and a HH Puller Pro Stubby 2200kv and I'd say it's perfect. Put an 11t pinion on there and it's butter on 3s.

Where's the pics??

Oops forgot the pics

I just installed a 9t pinion this morning on stock case with a HH crawlmaster that has the extra set of mounting holes.

Others tried that, and found it impossible without modifying the motor mount plate, as the mesh was WAY too loose. However, the Vitavon machined aluminum trans case was designed to properly mesh down to an 9T pinion.

Motor case design at the shaft output has a lot to do with how large or small a pinion will fit. A flat faced motor housing will have the widest range whereas a housing with a little nipple with a bearing or bushing would be limited.

Added a set of the cheapest knuckle weights I could find off eBay. $26 US. They fit really well and don’t rub my china wheels. I’m happy with them

Nice to see that I'm not the only one the Capra sucked back in.:lmao:
Looks like a great start.

What are the Capra standoffs you mention? Sadly, Proline discontinued those shocks.

I love the look of your truck with the simple, grey paint job and those wheels. It looks great. What color is that?

I have the HobbyWing 1080 with a Reedy Radon 16T motor in my Capra and I love it.

Correct. The HH Crawlmaster Pro has the extra holes that allows for a 9T pinion when you use the holes not directly across from each other.
