I recently got a SCX10.II to swap my G6 body over to. I got the SSD Heavy Brass Knuckles for the front, but couldn't find any rear axle weights to suit me, so I decided to try and make some.

I ordered a set of these off ebay (slow boat from China took about 6 weeks). 64g each

Made a bracket out of .025" aluminum sheet.

Used a dremel to cut out the center out of 2 of the weight so it would slip over the end of the axle.

The other 2, I mounted to an old axle end and chucked it up in the drill press and used a bastard file to shave the outer diameter down to match the smaller portion.

After they were shaved down, I cut the centers out to match the first 2.

Then used M3x20 screws to bolt the bracket and both weights together to make a "1-ton brake drum" looking weight.

I had to shave down one flat of the M3 nuts, and sand flats on both sides of the axle so the weight would slip over the end of the axle.

I sprayed them with self etching primer and let them dry 24hr. Then painted them flat black. Curious to see how well the paint holds up on them though.

The finished weights come in at 125g per side, and worked out like I'd hoped they would.

They look great and 125g each side is an awesome weight to put on[emoji106]
Very well done, grats.

Just FYI, you could have just used our Pro44 rear axle. It's got heavy metal tubes: Pro44 Rear Axle Case for SCX10 II

Yup, I’ve looked at and mulled over them several times. But I really like the new 1-pc axle design vs the multi-pc axles of the first 10.2’s. The 1-pc axles were one of the things that pushed me over the edge to upgrade over the OG setup I was running.

I wasn't sure if you were going for axle or wheel mounted at first, glad you went axle mounted. Great ingenuity, but kinda heavy, one per corner would be perfect imo look more scale. "thumbsup"

Well done Sir, truly a good Handyman. At least far better than me"thumbsup"

Agreed, one piece axle housings are a vast improvement in looks, lowering parts count and eliminating weak point where link mounts bolt to the housing. "thumbsup"

The one piece design is a headache though because aftermarket doesn't support them the same. However the pinion offset and smaller pumpkin really sold me. The OG SCX axles hung the pumpkin up on everything

I have put those wheel weights on my china knock-off wheels for the front - definitely helps.
I don't generally add rear weight, but might be worth a look.

I thought the SSD axles would cost way more than they do - "thumbsup"

I keep looking at the molded in trusses, and thinking there has got to be a way to bolt weight there.
Like the answer is starring me in the face.. haven’t came up with the answer yet.
