Divorced 2 speed T-case w/dig

Hey guys. I am wanting to put a dig unit on my new build. The issue I am having is due to the length I have chosen to build the chassis at, and a front motor/2wd trans kit, I have to run a divorced transfer case in the middle of the rig. So I was curious if anyone knows of a 2 speed transfer case that I can install the Vanquish Dig V2 on, without have to custom make a case. I have found a transfer case for Axial SCX10 D90 (link below), and since the Dig is for SCX10, I was hoping this would work. But before I bought it, I thought I would ask around to see if anyone else knew.

If that transfer case wouldnt work, does anyone know of a 2 speed transfer case like this that would work with the dig unit?

Link for transfer case I found : https://www.ebay.com/p/4030502623?i..._Mvcc-s-yNVInWuqr6fi8ns5ZJQ5caSgaAtZ8EALw_wcB

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Im being very picky with what Im wanting here. The truck will have forward mount engine, and with the length of the frame, the transfer case has to be separate. So, with that being said, Im really trying to find out if a transfer case will work with a dig unit, and really prefer the transfer case be a 2 speed for this rig.

You can run 2 transmissions. A 2 speed in the front and a dig in the rear. On the rear one you just cut the input shaft so it hooks up to a driveshaft. You end up with more gear reduction so you might want to run a smaller spur on the front trans. If someone makes a forward 2speed trans already that would be easier to mount.

I imagine it will have a ton of slop in the drive train though. The shifting mechanisms are usually pretty loose.

Handy gearing spreadsheet

Thank you for that information. So what your saying is run a motor and transmission up front, and add an axial transmission to the middle for the dig unit?

Edit : it says this on the website "Compatible with the Axial SCX10, SCX10-II RTR and AX10, may also be
used in the Wraith by changing the transmission case"

Having never messed with an Axial before, does this include the SCX 2 speed transmission? If so, that would be basically what im looking for

Gotta use 2 transmissions... I've done this a couple of ways, but this is the only pic I have handy. This is a Tamiya 3 speed trans connected to a Wraith trans turned 180 degrees in my 1/8 build. I modified the dig to give me 2/4WD ilo dig.

Using the Wraith trans with dig kit is a cheap and easy way to get dig. OR an SCX 3 gear trans with a VP dig. Whichever floats your boat. Just trim the input shaft where the spur would be as Voodoobrew stated and there's your 5mm input.

Tons of options for the front 2 speed. RC4WD AX2 or R3 transmission.... SCX10v2 with a 2 speed kit. TRX4 trans, Vaterra trans... Probably a ton of Ebay cheapies. All depends on your budget and space requirements.

As I'm sure you know, each trans requires a servo and linkage. Kind of a pain getting them all in there sometimes.

Personally, I think the R3 up front and Wraith trans would be the way to go. Lots of gearing options, and a lot of flexibility in motor placement.

Do the dig units work with a 2 speed transmission?

Actually, it looks like you have done exactly what I am going after. I am doing a 3 speed 1/14 transmission up front. I was going for a 2 speed transfer case for a super slow crawler when needed. (it may be overkill, but I am doing this. Even if its pointless, I'm still doing it) I wanted the Dig kit to make it 2wd/4wd option instead of using the dig as intended.

So essentialy when Im done with this build, it will be as close to a 6 speed, 2wd/4wd selectable truck as I can get. My biggest issue was trying to figure out how to get the 2 speed with dig.

Due to limitations in space, and realization that 6 gear options is way overkill, I have decided to just do the 3 speed Tamiya upfront, and I just received my SCX10 transmission. Dig unit should be here within a week so I can start getting the driveline installed on this build. It is a slow drawn out process.
