DIG unit to go from 2wd to 4wd?

Basically I like the Tamiya bruiser and how it goes from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive, I heard you can accomplish this using a DIG unit? From what i read though a dig only engages or disengages the REAR ? I want it to disengage the FRONT.... is this possible? Perhaps install it backwards?

I keep talking myself out of building an all wheel drive street car with a dig trans in it so I can run around in 2 or 4 wheel drive and lock the front to do burnouts. :lol:
