Davenport, Quad city area?

There was a guy on here from Long Grove with the screen name Colesdad. He hasn't been around much lately. Do a search for him you might be able to find him. I am from Dubuque if that helps?

i kinda left the rc scene for a while to start my new fj-40 project. i have been working on it non stop so i can get it done and out of the garage before i go on my vacation to afghanistan next year. I will have to get the crawlers out this spring and see if the batteries are any good.

the forty is still a work in progress. down to the body work and paint so I have been kinda lazy putting it off. I sadly had to move my blazer on 42's on to a better place so the wife would let me build this one. Cole was getting pretty good at crawling before we put them away. It is amazing the hand eye coordination they have at such a young age. probably from all the Wii. heres a couple pics of what the 40 looked like when i brought it home and where i got it to now. i think i am going to go with a red on the color.

went up to eau claire last sept. the guy had redone the tub about 5 years ago and parked it out side. i cleaned the frame and did some mods and made some bumpers for it, lifted it , swapped in 350, t400 and np241, swapped in truck rear axle, and swapped to 85 truck front disk brakes. no wonder i had no time for thr crawlers. now am ready to sand and repaint. i keep using the cold garage as an excuse to myself but the wife keeps reminding me about the stove i just had to put in there. guess it is time to suck it up and go sand.

i didnt narrow an axle, just swapped to 85 mini truck rear. the 40 stock axle would not work due to it being a passenger side offset diff and that would have been too much of an angle for a 16" rear driveshaft. none of the stuff i can claim as my idea as i have taken most of it from a site by the name of IH8MUD.com . its an all toyota site with a bunch of knowledgeable guys that have done just about all there is to do with cruisers of models. now that i think of it kinda like this site.

There is a facebook group called quadcities crawlers that I just joined and they seem very active. They meet up at wildcat den state park pretty often by the looks of things
