Custom front and rear dig mod on RS10 using Arduino Nano controller (w/ dual steer)

I finally finished the dig mod for my Redcat RS10. The mod is both a front and rear dig mod for the crawler that still maintains dual steering. I used an Arduino Nano controller and a 2-channel relay module for the mod. One of the Nano’s I/O pins is connected via a Y-adapter to the servo channel 1 on the receiver. When the driver turns the wheel a full LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT within a 1-second time fame, the rear motor shuts off. Doing LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT again re-enables the motor. If the driver does a full RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT motion, it disables/enabled the front motor. I installed 2 white led’s on the body of the truck that indicate which motors are currently disabled (see youtube video). Everything runs off of the main battery with no additional power source needed. The entire mod cost just under $20. The youtube link is pasted below. Unfortunately I cant seem to attach my close-up pictures to this post but you can at least see a video of the mod in action.

Additional mods to this truck are headlights and brake lights, better tires, metal gear servos, lipo buzzer, and weights near the wheel hubs.

If I have time my next idea is a ‘semi-dig’ mod which will allow for, say, 50% power reduction to a particular motor to help prevent moa wheel drag.

Enjoy!
