I purchased this steel bodied christmas decoration from Sam's Club sometime in the last quarter of 2019. When I saw it, I knew I wanted to complete the desire I've had to create a crawler out of a steel bodied antique. I did not own anything RC related at that time with dimensions that would work with the steel body, so it sat. Then came the plandemic. I purchased an Element Enduro kit and was pleased to learn that it would be the correct fit to the steel body.

Slowly opening up the wheel wells to stretch them for tire clearance. I wanted the steel body to remain true to its original design shape.

I did not wait long to paint, detail, and sticker the body. I'd already test run the chassis on the rocks, now it was time with body. Pics of this outing on the back yard rock;

The running gear;
Element Enduro Kit
Trans is set up to under drive the rear axle
STRC Brass front Steering knuckles
STRC Brass front C Hubs
Hitec Steering servo
Castle Creation ESC
Castle Creation BEC
Futaba RX & TX
Reedy 16T brushed motor
3S Lipo 5200mah (provides hours of trail time)

The RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler tires were disappointing. The large rubber lugs combined with rubber compound leave a lot to be desired. The fix was to install;
RC4WD 1.55 discontinued bead locks
Pitbull 1.55 Rock Beast Tires
Crawler Innovations Deuces Wild CWR-3019
Scale hardware

(You can see one of my other projects in the background this year, a Tamiya Semi.)

The enduro build along with two VP builds I also created this year;

This truck is no shelf queen. I build them to use for testing products and ideas. This has held up surprisingly well.

That truck build looks pretty cool! I see those rigs in hardware stores and such and think the same thing! Nice execution.
