Alright, i have a sidewinder 3 esc and was running a brushed motor, Just doesnt have the power i want for my mega truck so i wanna go to brushless. Im new to brushless setups and have tried researching with no luck. Im looking for a motor that will work with my sidewinder 3. Ive seen the velineons but im not sure it will work 100 percent. I believe the sidewinder 3 is a 3pole? Will 4 pole motors work with it. Help guidee guys, thanks!

what truck and what kind of driving are you doing if you need slow speed crawling your gonna what sensored brushless and sidewinder dont do that
4pole will work fine

With the Sidewinder 3, you could also run a sensorless brushless outrunner, which will give you plenty of torque, and fairly decent slow speed control, because they tend to be 6 pole or higher. I have a Turnigy D3542 1250KV in two scale trucks, and that thing is a beast! It'll run on 2S - 4S. I recently put one in my Wrangler, which has a Castle SV3, and took it up in the mountains, on a 2 mile trek. I got into some heavy rock bashing, where the motor essentially thrashed my truck about like a rag doll, and it never felt warmer than maybe 75°. That was on 2S. Only drawback on that motor is that it comes with the shaft on the wrong end, and has to be reversed, using some sort of press. Also, the shaft needs a flat spot for the pinion set screw, but it's got a beefy 5mm shaft. There are plenty that come with the shaft on the correct side, though.

Have you tried 3s lipo batteries with your existing brushed motor? That alone should give you plenty of power.

As already mentioned, your Sidewinder will only run sensorless brushless motors, which do not offer precise smooth startup. If your will to sacrifice smooth startup for outrageous levels of power then either the Castle 4600, 5700, or the 3800(which is slightly longer than the other two=more power even at a lower KV rating) will suite you well. It's a bummer that castle basically prices their motors as almost as much as a motor/sidewinder combo.

No such thing as a 3 pole, at least as far as I know. The "3" in the name stands for the 3rd generation of sidewinder. It will run a 4 pole just fine, and is offered with such.
