This is my first post, but I have been coming here for a while and reading posts since I got a Venom Creeper project in a trade. I built that up, but as I worked I found myself wanting to build a trail truck, so when I picked up a Wheely king half converted to a crawler, I decided to use the axles and transmission to build a new truck from scratch. I have been working on it for a few weeks, but i have a long way to go still. I planned to build a custom chassis from the ground up, but I found some TRX4 frame rails for cheap, so I decided ro work from there. I used a Helion motor plate and some 2" aluminum bar stock to flip the motor and clock it down since the WK transmission is so top heavy. I figured the frame width i needed for my shocks to function then cut 1/4" brake line tube to size and brazed on 3mm nuts to make crossmembers. Then i mounted the transmission using some aluminum bar and channel. I made up some plate to test shock locations, and use 8-32 all thread with traxxas rod ends to make suspension links. On the axles, I made link hangers out of aluminum channel and made steering linkage the same way as the suspension links. I cut and brazed some aluminum angle (from an old screen door [emoji28]) to make a servo mount on the axle. I used the WK driveshaft ends and got some traxxas center sections... from a T-Maxx I think. The shocks and wheels are just stand ins until I decide what I want for them (and yes... those hyrax up front are just stretched over drift car wheels.[emoji28])

But anyway, just curious what you guys think of it. Im not sure what to tackle next. I'm waiting on a new receiver to arrive and then ill probably work on getting all the electronics mounted. I was thinking about using a bruder cab to make a dakkar style expedition camper out of it, but im not sure if the WK axles will be too wide and make it loom wierd. Luckly my son has some bruders, so ill borrow a cab to see how he it looks.
