Be careful on YouTube

This was sent to me by a friend of mine that is a computer/IT tech.

I have been made aware of a new virus going around that affects all platforms...* meaning Android, PC, MAC, I OS... all of them.

Malicious bots have been going through youtube and placing links as time stamps in the comment sections of the vid.*

It will* usually be disguised as* VOM* . IN . COM or something to that effect.

It will take you to a Porn dating site which then proceeds to access your contacts/email address's and starts to spread itself through the net.*

Now PLEASE.. DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS ON YOUTUBE COMMENTS..*
If they are from the original poster, then it will be in the Youtube description section...* not in the comment section..

You* have been warned..

The ONLY timestamp links that anyone should ever clock on are the timestamp links within the poster's description. Remember that, and you will never have any problems.

Personally, I don't judge. My only requirements for what other people do is that they do it with consenting adults. Beyond that, go with what you know... If milf grannies is what flips your taco, more power to you! "thumbsup"

Back to the OP....
I surf a lot of YouTube, I practically lived there when I was researching 3D printing and when I was getting my feet wet in Fusion 360. Rarely, if ever would I click on anything in the video information box, and never in the comments section. So, from that, I think I am safe, and have never had an unintentional redirect.

The only channel that I ever click on links in the video info section is a channel called 'SciManDan'. This guy debunks flat earth videos, and some times the original video he is debunking is worth going to and laughing at.

She said no. Lol I know it's hard to believe that someone doesn't watch porn, but it's true it's been 4 years since I watched any. Yes I used to watch it alot but it just doesn't do anything for me. It's like watching the same crappy movie like 50 times in a row, you just git burned out on it. I mean if you like watching it and are of age and it don't take over you life, and yes it can be an addiction. I know a few people who are in counseling because of it. Just remember the interweb can be a scary place if your not careful.

I totally read and write comments on YouTube videos.


Occasionally, I'll read comments on news articles as well. The lack of critical thinking displayed in many comments helps me better understand why things go as they do in the world.

I'll give you the YouTube comments but the news ones are just a wasteland. A bunch of people with political science degrees from University of Google arguing with each other...no thanks :mrgreen: I already know there are idiots, don't really need a daily reminder.

I've gotten to where I won't even comment on Instagram photos anymore. Got tired of people rummaging through my profile doing the private investigator thing to find some kind of evidence that conflicts with my comment. Cannot believe people have that much spare time on their hands (as I type a book in a forum lol)

What I learned from the Walking Dead, is that even if you can keep the zombies at bay, some group with a tank (or other war tools) will come and ruin your place, and / or take your stuff.
