Axle mounted servo

Starting a build for next year's 1.9 comp truck using SCX10.2 axles, and thought I'd share my axle mounted servo brackets.

I'm utilizing longer screws on the shock mounts, and the upper link mounts, 25-30mm and 40mm respectively.

Using 3/8" aluminum bar/plate, I have one side of the bolt going to the upper link mounts recessed to not need too long of a bolt (still using a 40mm titanium bolt, as it's all I could find that was fully threaded)

With a tactic servo mounted up for mockup

So far I only have the axles, but had this idea for a while.

I wonder if your gonna lose stearring going back to soa and if articulation will increase?

I looked at making one when I seen a post about wanting to do this on a facebook page but there simply isn't enough room between the chassis and axle with the battery tray where it is.

You are right, on the stock scx10.2 there is no room for an axle mount setup with the battery placement. I'm doing a ground up build starting with the axles, and will be using original scx crossmembers on the chassis. It will also be my comp truck, so Ill only be running a 1300 3s battery, much easier to place elsewhere.

No loss of any steering angle, and I probably won't gain much, if any articulation. My main goal is a lower cg

Have you ran a scx10ii before trying your soa mod? It actually handles very well with not to bad cog

I have an near stock scx10.2 kit as well. In which I put shorter than stock, trx2660 shocks with mini-t springs on to lower it. I wasn't satisfied with the bone stock side hilling performance, and a different body.

Is your mount going to allow enough vertical motion of the upper links? Looks like the bottom of the servo may inhibit link movement. Hard to tell from pictures. Nice fab work regardless.

It might, it depends on how I set up the upper link mounts on the chassis, but at ride height, they'll be about parallel to ground. I'm mocking up right now with stock scx rails, but I'm going to do some cutting of them to make the front a higher arch after I get a second set of sacrificial rails. But right now there's no servo clearance issues, yet, haha. I made sure to leave a little space for link rotation.

Interesting work "thumbsup" I love people who thinks out of the box. It is an alternative way to that of TFL Racing, which manufactures a more traditional axle servo mount.

Just ordered one of these. Should be real easy to fit AR44s under a Wraith or Bomber now. UCFab parts are great too.

Ok, that is damn nice, now I can swap out the crappy Komodo Axles :D Now my question would be where in the world can I buy that from UCFab or whoever is selling them.

I figured it out, had to go through FB.

Well it is shipped and will be here Monday. Looking forward to putting the axles on my Komodo, the darn XVD's on the Komodo, no matter where I get them from keep breaking, plus there is the steering angle I am looking forward to as well :D

For those using the UCFAB servo mount, what steering links are you using? Would the steering links for a SCX10 work?
