Axial R35 and the ability to read

There are so many assumptions here that the Axial RTRs necessarily come with different rubber compound tires than R35.

So I wonder, why not just read the product description?

As with the Bomber. The kit product information says R35. Problem solved. The RTR says s30 or something. Problem solved.

The Scx10s..
Falken RTR says R35.
The CRC Wrangler RTR 2012 says R35.
The Spawn RTR says R35.
The Deadbolt RTR says R35.

Please stop spreading false information.

Or Axial could be doing false marketing, which I doubt.

It amazes me that people just blindly ask people here whether it's this or that, without even reading the product description of something they've paid several hundred dollars for.

They can call whatever they want R35, I swear my R35 Ripsaws that came with my Wraith kit do not feel like the same rubber as my supposed T35 1.9 Trepadors. Me thinks, with no scientific proof, that somewhere in the last few years that Axials rubber compound has changed, even if the name had not.

Am I just crazy, or have others noticed anything similar?

The “R35” tires included in the SCXIII kit are noticeably softer and stickier than anything called R35 in the past. Other than that, the R35 tires from my OG Dingo SCX10 kit don’t feel much different from the set of Axial Krawlers I bought last year.

I have a set of og 4.3" ripsaws. def softer than the Falken wildpeak Mt's and the bfg's from the kit.

You're not alone in that thinking. R35 seemed to change over the years along with Axial plastics.

Original R35 has some sparkle in the rubber.... it changed along the way for sure. I still have some old Dingo kit tires and they look different from current R35 tires. Not that the new ones are bad, but they definitely look different.

Interestingly, the Duratrax 1.9 tires seem to have the same sparkle that the OG R35's had.

I've seen that sparkle on the tires you mentioned too. I also had a TRX4 kit and the tires had quite a bit and a second kit considerably less. I believe it's a release agent from the molding process.

You're probably not crazy. I've quite a few Axial tires, and they have various feels to them, R35 or not. The ones I like the least are actually R35 white dot bought separately straight from Axialracing.com.

The sparkle on R35 tires is a powder (maybe talc?) to keep the tires from gluing themselves to each other or to the packaging. If you scrub the tires with soap and a toothbrush, the sparkle will come off.

I just went down and scrubbed an old Ripsaw. The sparkle is real. :) It's in the compound. Didn't check any newer tires though.

My SCX10 II 1955 Ford F-100 RTR specs say S30 compound Trepadors. But the manual says R35! The tyres had the white dot too so I think they are R35.
I also have the SCX10 II 1969 Blazer RTR that has S30 Wildpeaks, they are harder compound.
Honestly both compounds are pretty hard compared to Pro-Line G8 and in both the foams are super stiff.
I usually use RC4WD X2S3 or Pit Bull Alien compound tyres.

I didn't say the sparkle isn't real. I said it's anti-stick compound. Go back and wash that same tire several times and you'll see more and more of the sparkle removed each time. Where soap fails, rubbing alcohol or Goof Off may succeed. Some of the sparkle may never wash off due to the sheer stickiness of the rubber, especially when it's fresh out of the mold at the factory, but it still doesn't permeate the rubber. If it were, you'd see it inside the tires too, and no matter how much the tread wears down the tread would still be sparkly. That is not the case.

Just another note...

I have the Falken jeep Falken Mt tires claimed to be R35 compound...

And the Trail Honcho Falken Mt tires claimed to be S30...

I cannot tell a differance between them, and suspect they are both r35...

Just my 2 cents but the trepadors on my og scx 10 jku rtr and kit versions had the exact same part #'s molded on the side wall not sure what it is but could post tomorrow, kit is supposed to be r35 and rtr was already glued from factory
