Hey there,
I'm new to rock crawlers/scalers. I used to race 2WD and 4WD Short Course trucks, but with work and family I just don't want to sacrifice the time it takes to go to the track etc. BUT I need something to play around with, and the SCT's are just no fun in the backyard/road.

Anyway, if decided to start into this RC division with an Axial SCX10, that I've bought used for a very good deal. After some reading (mostly here) I've decided in which direction I want to go with this built, and I thought I will share the process with y'all.

First I've made me a steering link to look like a steering stabilizer. I've used brass to add some weight above the front axle.

It looked pretty good, but it wasn't working to good.

So I had to modify it a little bit.

I've also replaced the factory axles with D60's for a more scale appearance.

As mentioned in the title, I've picked the Axial Jeep G6 body, as I really like the looks of it. It also has lots of potential for my military style scale project, without using a breakable hard body.
I've installed rear fender flares, as I am no fan of boatsides. The flares are mounted as high as possible, to assure no rubbing.

As I want to have as much scale going on, I've ordered a Knights Customs grill and RC4WD tail lights.

That's it for now, I'll keep this thread going as I progress with this build. It might give fellow scalers some ideas, as well as serves me as a log. I hope that's OK with the admins?

That steering link though. I Love The looks of it and that it is in brass. Which I was able to fabricate something like that.

Nice looking... you can use the front fenders axial part number AX80121. Then use a heat gun to straighten the front section. I like the hood line on the G6 body for mounting the fender. Tape them in place and drill the holes.

Had some more time to work on the G6.

I've installed a Yeah Racing servo powered steering wheel. Not quite sure if I like it.

I do like the 3D printed door handles "thumbsup"

Today I've machined me a steering rod out of brass. I made it has thick (heavy) as possible, so I still have enough clearance on the SSD D60 axle and my steering link. Everything works perfectly.

I've also modified the RC Rock Armor G6 bumper to accept the Axial LED buckets, and drilled and tapped to mount some Hot Racing shackle mounts.

As you can see, I also had to remove some materiel on the bumper, to make room for my new Pit Bull Growler. Which are the largest class 2 legal tires to my understanding. They really are monsters, with 4.75" height and 1.75" wide.

I've also modified Proline body mounts, that I much prefer from clips. I've tried magnet body mounts, but they make the body sit way too high.

Also, as I do not want to install any small items onto the cage, I went with a hood mounted rack instead.

Well, that'll be it for now.

I have deleted them all off my phone. I had step by step photos.... I will post some finished photos tomorrow. Check out my wroncho build there are pictures posted.

K Goodrich wroncho build it is usually on page two.

I finally had some time to keep working on my build.
I've coated all metal parts with Cerakote Firearm coating that we use in the shop. Ignore the electronics, I've ordered new ESC, Motor, and Servo.

I also had time to paint the body and to install the ob1 light kit.

After looking at it with the body and all, I have decided to widen the axles a bit. A 40 turn motor will be used to power this 9 lbs rig.
A few little things a still missing.
