Axial bomber servo destruction

Hi everyone,

I have an axial bomber that is eating through servos like crazy. I have stripped a hitec HS-7954SH servo as well as a savox 1230SG servo. I have gotten sick of replacing servos and I have $150 to spend on a servo. I was thinking the Protek 370TBL servo sounds good. Has anyone ran this in a bomber or stripped one. How reliable are they? Are there any other good options? I wanted to get more opinions before I take the plunge. Thanks!

The Savox 2290SG ($160), the Holmes Hobbies SHV500v2 ($120), and the ProModeler 470 ($100) in descending order of available torque - all are excellent and highly recommended.

I like the looks of that ProModeler servo. I am just not sure that the torque would be good enough. Have you tested this servo or compared it to any others ? Thanks!

I have the Pro Modeler on my Bomber. I have yet to encounter any situation where that servo was not adequate, but then again I don't need to wag my truck with the steering.

I love my Holmes and my ProModeler hands down. My Wraith is a heavy sticky beast.
For the extra 50 you will not ever destroy the 2290.
What weight is your rig?

Also the thing that I am most interested in is durability which servo would hold up the best to bomber abuse the Holmes, Savox, or ProModeler? Thank you for all the help!

Kinda sounds like you're being overly abusive. No matter what servo you buy, you ought to slap a servo saver on it too.

Or buy el-cheapo servos and throw them away when they break.

I’ve run the Protek 370 in my Bomber and it’s been great so far. I’m not easy on it but not destructive either.

That is the servo I am leaning towards. Right now I can get one one Amain for $135 which seems like a good deal to me. I also like the price of the ProModeler and in the end it will come down to whichever is more durable.

I just fear that I won't be able to crawl with a servo saver

If you're going to beat them to death, expect breakage. Even the biggest baddest servo has a breaking point. You're going to have to decide which activity is more important to you and build/drive accordingly.

No reported breakage with the ProModeler.
I had a bind in one of mine, sent it in and was pronounced OK by John who builds them .

What is the ProModelers warranty?
I'm not sure about the warranty.

The promodeler uses mil-spec parts, a impressive geartrain, and was awarded a contract with the military. I have yet to break any of his version 4 (420oz), and now they are at the 5 (470oz) version. I don't think I am as hard on servos as you are though so take that for what it's worth.

Thanks for all the help. I decided on the ProModeler because of the price and reliability. Hopefully nothing goes wrong!!!

I went that route myself... great servo and great company to do business with!
