So I guess I can call this a "build", it's been done over the past couple of weeks.
Always wanted the AX, but I didn't want to pay $160 for it. Bought it for $99 on sale!
Looks capable, thought it would be fun. It's fun, but capable it's not!
Had to see what I could do with it while trying to keep it cheap 😉
First bad decision?
Spectrum brushless kit for $30.
Added a brass skid and extended the rear wheelbase 10mm with some parts box arms and driveshaft.

Wheelbase was a good idea but suspension was all kinds of wrong.
Axial should be ashamed of the shocks they use!
Ordered up some cheap Amazon shocks, 2mm longer for the rear and 3mm shorter for the front.
Sits lower and level with good travel and a bit less flex.
Doesn't bounce like a slinky now!

In the process, Axial brass knuckles went on sale so they went on the front too!

Now to get it on the rocks!

So we got a little warm up and I got this thing out on the rocks.
Wheelbase and shocks made a huge difference in stability. Still flipped backwards too easy with the brass knuckles, so I bought the extra weights that bolt to them.
This thing is working now, pulled a line my Deadbolt struggles with on the first try!
Now I'm thinking about swapping the Furitek setup (MUCH smoother) from the Deadbolt and giving it a shot, should be a beast!
