A few month ago I saw several 6x6 builds and suddenly I decided to build my own. Started looking around for spare parts on my garage and got to gather almost everything needed to start a 6x6 build, but this one would be an AR60 axles build, because that's what I have in hand (and I haven't seen a 6x6 with this axles anyway, so maybe I can build something newer).

At this point, I have already assembled everything and the mechanics are done. The 6x6 is working, I like how the mechanics are working, the links are well tuned and everything went quite smooth.

Body: WIP !!!!

Re: My first 6x6

Started the paint job on the body. The paint will be militar camuflage ofcourse, but I want to get an old style look, with rust. Still in the mid of the painting and the weather is not helping on the drying, but it's ok, I'm taking my time on this fellow. I installed a Castle sensored system as well, hoping that the transmission will be able to handle that powah!

First, the primer.

After that, the rust layer.

After the rust layer, I'll paint the camuflage and do some sanding. The motor combo is huge, thinking best place for it, I want to leave space for interior.

Re: My first 6x6

This thing looks like so much fun that you have me eyeballing my extra set of sawback axles and thinking 6x6 !! I can't do that , too many projects so I'll just live vicariously through these builds so keep up the good work."thumbsup"

Re: My first 6x6

Thanks man! Indeed TONS of fun!

Electronics are ready, I found the way to put everything as low as possible and leave plenty of room for interiors. The cab fits just perfect, this ESC is huge, it wasn't easy. I added an alluminum plate over the trans and motor to put the ESC, and attached a second plate on the side to put the BEC and the receiver, everything in a balloon. The rig is waterproof now.

Added another battery mount plate at the back as well, the idea is to crawl with one front 3S lipo normally. For batching or mud kind of stuff, put two 2S lipo to get 4S power and more balanced rig for speeding.

Re: My first 6x6

Ohhh yeah, finished painting and put everything together, the beast is alive!! Tested with 3S and 4S, everything works perfectly. I had blast crawling and bashing around, with 4S is crazy! Now only lights and interior pending.

Re: My first 6x6

Figured out that the 6x6 had a huge torque twist in the middle axle.. after thinking about it, makes complete sense.. since two pinions are adding resistance to the axle gear... Sooo, I made a sway bar! Worked out pretty good..

Re: My first 6x6

So, one thing is missing here, the winch! BTW I don't want to spend more money on a fancy weak winch, I rather go with a servo winch. The thing is, where to put it?! So many things already in this rig that I don't have much space left..

Finally I found out a way! A thick aluminum plate attached to the chassis frame rail worked great.

Nothing like a servo winch, this thing has so much power, that can lift the hole rig! [emoji106]
