So after what I'd call a very successful build of a scx12 (it's so far beyond a scx 10 I totally skipped 11) I figured it's time. I've built a few losi based crawlers in the past. I have learned alot, Mostly from trial and error... lots of error.
I also wanted to prove a point about frame choice also. So I decided I am going to use a stock axial frame.
So the first thing that needed to be done was make a skid that would fit axial frame rails but have accommodation for the LNC trans.
That is the start but I needed to do some (secret sauce stuff) to get the stock losi 4link mount to fit with the trans.
Success!
Not that I've got the trans mounted to the "home brew" skid and some frame rails mounted to that. It's time to get the links and shocks mounted.
I know that I want the shocks at approx. A 40° angle off the axles. (ish) so I got to work with more delrin
So here's what I came up with for the rear shock towers. It has some adjustment holes so I can tune it once it's closer to finished.
The rear is set I decided I am gonna go with a droop setup on this build. I like droop for many reasons.
So now onto the front shock towers.
GIJOE has dubbed these the "battle axle towers" and I like it. I went alittle overboard on design. But it's still very lite and has loads of holes for adjustments.
I am really liking the flex and smoothness of the stock losi shocks with a heavy oil.
I had some spare 5/16" aluminum bar and decided I wanted to make a bumper for the front. And I had a spare integy (I know. Integy yuck) winch. But I wanted to winch to mount neatly to the aluminum and not use the mounting plate that came on it.
So now that that's done I have to pick a suitable body for it.
here's a blurry pic of how it sits currently.
I am going to hold off on mounting the bumper until I find a body. I want the winch to sit just behind the grill of what ever I put on there.
