Hey guys, been lurking a while and I thought I'd finally reg up.

This is my first crawler, and I decided to build it from the ground up.

I ordered a few parts a couple of days ago:

SCX10 Frame Set
Gmade XD103 piggyback shocks
Axial steering upgrade set
Axial narrow aluminum hub set
Axial axles_ locked R w/SS shafts & alum lockouts. F is open w/alum knuckles
Clearance bent aluminum lower links
SCX10 Tranny
Hitec 5646wp water proof servo
CSM with pan hard
Axial 55T
Axial AE-2 ESC
Walker Evans & ripsaws
Screw sets
Spare parts trees (upper links, mounts, etc)

Next:

RC4WD Punisher shafts
3Racing alum 3 links
Proline 2005 Chevy body
RxTx


I've been researching it a bit, but I've never seen a complete build parts list. I'm wondering what else I'm going to need to get it rolling/running.


Any help would be mucho appreciated.

i believe there is a full list of all the items needed in the axial scx10 manual, and will have all the part numbers, etc. looks like you've got everything pretty much covered and i don't really see anything missing. from this point on it's pretty much all customization to your personal taste.
 
RETURN THE AXIAL SERVO!!!!!!!!!!! If you are going to be in water, get a Hi-tec waterproof servo. If your not, get a hitec waterproof servo.You are probs going to be in water some time or another... Just sayin. The torque should be over 150oz, if not more. Make sure the holes on the axial axles for the axial 4 link mount is plugged with screws, no longer than 6mm. get plasti dip spray to water proof the esc, but make sure to mask the fins, and put 3 to 4 coats on. You are problably going to want an asortment of hex screws for the things you will do to it. :twisted:
maybe some marine grease when you put the tranny and axles together.

OH! And I almost forgot! Robinson Racing Gears all the way!

Thanks guys. I only paid $11 for the servo, so I have no problem just ordering another one. I didn't even think about waterproofing the servo. I'll order the HiTech tonight. Do you WP the motor too.

I found a manual online, and low and behold, a full parts list. Lol never even crossed my mind.

Should I install a lowering kit because of the longer XD103 piggybacks?

NOOOOOOO the motor is already water proof! no matter what! but make sure you don't break it in under water like some peeps do on you-tube :shock:
Yes you should instal a droop kit if the shocks you bought are longer than stock (80mm) otherwise the shocks will bottom out b4 your chassis/ axles do.
 
I wouldn't recomend a drop kit, just use the right length shocks. You say you ordered a CMS setup... If it's designed for the SCX10 then it's designed for the stock shocks (90mm extended) and using much longer (or shorter) shocks will move the whole axle off to one side noticeably.
 
Ok. I just ordered a 5646WP. That should do her. I'm going to design a droop bracket in Solidworks and have it laser cut at work.
 
I think so. Most of my experience is with servo-on-axle, but my current c2 has a Hand Bros cms kit and without using different length panhard and draglink none of my other shocks looked right. 100,110 mm. The axle shifted to the driverside too much for my liking, but little things like that really bug me.

Stock scx10 shocks are cheap and plentiful, so if you see a used set for sale you can just try both and see what works for you. Also I'm not sure what you mean by drop kit but I have a set of VP Razors that I've used for small adjustments like this, so yeah on second thought that might be a good alternative. They're cheap and versatile too.

Ya, it's like the razors. Basically I'll make a bracket that moves the upper shock mount up relative to the difference between stock and 103 shocks (13mm). So I should retain the stock ride height while gaining a bit more shock travel.
