801RCC 2011 Comp, Event #9 "Don of the Desert"

The crawling season is in full swing and the competition level is at an all time high, there is no better way to stay at the top of the game than to hit the monthly comps. Come on out and show off your skills and setups or hash out some of your ideas with fellow competitors. The 801-RCC comps are home to some of the best crawlers on the planet. Come on out and see for your self.

801-RCC is always looking for new places to crawl and new terrain to conquer. Well this year we decided to take advantage of our beautiful Rocky Mountains. After checking out a few spots that some of the club members had suggested we locked in on Bald Mtn.

-When-
Sept 17th '11 -9/17/11-

9-9:30 Course setup
9:45 group pics and drivers meeting
10:00 Competition starts

-Where-
NAME: Bald Mtn.
LOCATION: High Uinta's
TERRAIN: Smooth rock, lots of steps and ledges with some dirt
TRACTION: Low/med

Bald Mtn is a recreational fee area $6.00 per car
Directions
From Kamas Ut. Head East on Mirror Lake hwy (UT-150) about 29 miles. You'll see a sign that says "Bald Mtn Pass" with a small dirt road on the left that leads to the parking lot.
GPS (google maps)
40.687440, -110.904279

Bald Mtn is car accessible and has a small parking lot, with camping spots just around the corner. There is plenty of rock to throw down courses and still have tons of room for "Fun Crawling" or "Scale running". Bald Mtn is in the high Uinta's so the over night lows can dip down to near freezing and After noon thunder showers are common, so make sure to bring clothing and gear for cold conditions. With the heat of summer on full blast this comp should allow everyone to have a slight cool down.

(flyer Coming soon)

Come spend the day or weekend with 801RCC in the high Uinta's at one of the coolest R/C crawling areas in Utah

801RCC uses USRCCA rules
http://www.usrcca.com/rules/2010.pdf

this is a FREE comp and open to anyone running a USRCCA legal 2.2 or 1.9 rig

You can count on us to be there as usual!!!!"thumbsup"

Excited to comp in an area I've never seen before!!!
Should be interesting!

I had a great time this weekend!! We ran in 100+ deg temps last weekend in Vegas and less than a week later we're competing in snow and temps near freezing  I didn't get discouraged when I woke up to a few inches of snow in our camp, 801RCC is full of hardcore crawlers and we often have to fight through the Utah weather. I was sure this spot had the terrain to lay down some great courses even with snow on the ground, and I was right. I thought the courses were real good and most of all FUN. I think everyone had a good time despite the cold temps and wet conditions. Turned out to be a great event and great times.!!!

My rig felt planted and incredibly good. Chaotic Crawlers "The Special" chassis and links is by far the best setup I've ever driven on the rocks. It just plan works!!
