So I used to be very into rccrawling and had an assortment of rigs, sold most of them years ago and held on to a few rubber made tubs of parts. A friend of work is into it now and has a sweet trail honcho. I figured I would dig through and see if i could get something put together to mess around with. My first stop was here to see what the new hotness was for tlt axles.
Instead of a new hotness I found that no one uses them anymore. Hahaha.

I did see custom crawlerz post and checked out his web site. I liked the servo mounts/truss set up he had so I bought 2. Also got a pro crawler frame. Figured it would be a easy start and the price was right.

In digging though my parts i found 4 tlt axles and a set of proline moabs, I didn't find a tranny so I ordered a knock off axial tranny from Amazon for 20 bucks. Ordered a set of links as well.

I found an intergy 55t motor still in the bag and a hitec 645 servo. A stash of tq3 radios and receivers and some Novak esc.

Got it mostly bolted together still need to make a tranny mount.

Wheel base is about 13 inches I wouldn't mine shortening that up an inch or so.

I was planning on running rear steer but a quick look at the comp rules it looks like no rear steer or 3rd radio channel. So I don't know what I will do or if I would even compete. Was gonna mod my tq3 for rear steer for seperate control but might just y harness it.
Checked some of the body's I had laying around for look/fit.

I guessed on the chassi width when I ordered and got 3 in spacers. The tranny fits perfectly but it's a bit wide for the shock mounts. Also I find the shock mounts to be way to low and would result in a super high rig. And maybe things have changed but low was the way to go back in the day. So i might trim or bend it to change it up some we will see.

It's much easier now in finding parts to make a crawler. At the beginning Bender was one the pioneer chassis makers, mated to a modified traxxas rustler trans with locked internals (jb weld) custom turnbuckles using Home Depot altread and stainless tubing. Everything was trial and experimenting, sure was fun.;-);-);-);-);-);-)

I do remember, my comp rig was a pede tranny to tlt axles. Also had a unlimited clod that ran a stick chassi. Every thing for me back then was done with a dremel and hand tools. Able to step my game up a bit now. Servo came in the mail today hopefully have time to get it running today

Orange bug bodies have a soft spot in my heart for sure...
Awesome to see someone else still building with theses axles

these pictures need some resizing for the computer viewers. I cant really make out whats going on here.

Too bad the chassis design is a rip off from another member on here.

Nothing against the OP...just saying the seller of the chassis had no rights to the design. Good luck with the build. TLT's = Old School Cool!
