The 3rd Event for the VARCOR Summer Series is less than two weeks. It will be on Saturday, August 14, 2010 in Norfolk, VA. Our own Mariner (John Cobb) has offered up his rock course to hold the competition. Because of this, we're starting at 10:00AM instead of 9:30AM to give your out of towners some extra time to get out to John's.

This will be a different event than in the past since this will be at someone's home. Everyone has been talking about doing a GTG with food involved so John has offer to do this. At Event #3, we'll be doing some of our favorite things, rc rock crawling, grilling, eating, and drinking (of age AND with a designated driver to take you home - unless you want to sleep on the curb... LOL).

John will be provided the food (burgers & dogs) so you will just need to bring whatever you want to drink. If you want something different, bring it. If you want to bring a side, bring it. If you want to bring the significant other, bring them. If you want to bring your kids, bring them too. If you have a friend interested in crawling, bring them. Even if you don't want to compete, come out and join in the fun. So please sign up by the morning of Thursday, August 12th, if you can, so John and his lovely wife can gather up the necessary supplies.

His address is 2418 Stribling Lane, Norfolk, VA 23518. Based from Richmond, it's about a 2 hours drive depending on the tourist traffic on I-64 E.

The alternate weather date will be determined at a later time.

It will be our standard format.
Course setup will start between 8:00 am
Registration and Tech will start at 9:15 am
Drivers Meeting / Course Review at 9:45 am
Start Competition at 10:00 am

All classes (2.2 Comp, 2.2 Sportsman, 1.9 Comp, Super) are available if we have atleast 3 drivers. And for the scalers, you're more then welcome to come out for a GTG trail ride. We had a few out at the last event and they had fun.

2.2 Comp
1) Randy
2) Mariner

2.2 Sportsman

1.9 Comp
1) Randy

Super

Note: Rules changes in the Comp class (2.2 Comp, 1.9 Comp, & Super).
1) The first change with be only "On Course" repairs (USRCCA rule 1.4.2) - no more "Off Course" repairs will be allowed during the run of a single course. Basically build your truck to last (or atleast until you finish the course).

2) The second change with be the Starting Gates. The Starting Gates will now count towards penalties as normal gates do so watch your lines.

3) The third change will be the 20 point carry rule. USRCCA rule 1.7.2 will be taken out of play during the Summer series which means if you can't progress thru a gate, you're SOL.
