I contemplated putting this in the tire/wheel section, but I figured I'd run some traffic through the Super forum for good measure. They're awesome rigs and I'd love to see a resurgence.

I don't have a super per se, but I have a rec rig that I plan to build some super tires/wheels for.

I want something in the 6.5" diameter range but narrower than a standard 2.2. Rather than doing the cut n shut, then narrowing a 2.2, I'm pondering just starting with 1.9's and doing the cut n shut to the diameter I'm looking for.

I'll be making custom wheels as well, so the resulting wheel size isn't that big of a deal.

Is there any reason not to do this? Of the brief searching I've done, all I can find is 2.2 stuff.

Talk me out of it before I buy way too many 1.9 tires to cut up, haha.

Found a post from Nova back in 2018 that answered my question. I'm late to the game obviously, haha. 1.9's are happenin'.

Carry on!

what did yo ufind?

I am looking to up my Super's tires and am having a hard time finding something. I may just have to make my own rims & tires -

I just found that it’s typical for guys to use stock width 1.9’s for cut n shut super diameter tires. I picked up 6 Duratrax Showdowns and I’ve been cutting them up as I find time. Not done yet.

I’ll 3D print the wheels for them, so finding a wheel that will work isn’t an issue.
