Decided I needed a random projects thread. I'm always wrenching, just not always on crawlers and sometimes there's a project or something cool that doesn't really need it's own thread. Hopefully there some other general RC nuts out there that have an interest in random RC stuff.

Picked this up a while ago, but haven't really done much with it since cold weather is setting in. Love the body! I had plans to swap the body over on my Sendero, but it works so good I didn't have the heart to tear it down. So i built this up with a few extra hop ups I had laying around. Added some brass, swapped the wheels and detailed it out a bit.

Then I went on a CC01 bender (It's all eddievedder's fault) Finished up my street CC. Stock motor and gears, low ride kit, and some HR parts and a center one-way. Thinking a drift truck. Ready for paint!

Found enough spares to build up a leftover chassis. Not quite sure what I want to do with it yet.

Picked up an X-mas blowout $149 CC01 and the YR complete conversion kit. Keeping this one stock-ish for noodling around the back yard. Didn't even cut the brick off! The YR kit is nice, but the pivot balls suck. Won't even flex on their own... so I eventually replaced them with all Tamiya blue parts. Didn't quite have the stomach for an IFS Defender, so I put on an old Lexan Pajero body that's been collecting dust. I like it! Looks great on the 1.55's

In other news, put a belt conversion on my TT01.

Started messing with an cheap Ebay drifter. Pretty neat chassis.

Finally finished my TC01 chassis. It's looks so damn cool I'm not even sure I want to put the body on!

Built up the $129 Astute I picked up when Tamiya USA was blowing them out. Badass little buggy.

Also working on the Hornet EVO. Had to have it!

Though no wrenching for the next 3 weeks. After 20+ years in the IT industry I've retired and begun a second career as the head cook for the local middle school. Love it, one of the lowest paying, hardest working jobs I've ever had, but working with great people, doing something I enjoy, and get to hug my daughter every day at work. However, kitchen knives are no joke! I compression cut my finger the other morning. Thankfully I was using a duller knife or I would have cleaved my finger in 2. Wrapped it up and kept working all day but eventually went and got it fixed up after work. Being a stubborn ass, I decided to use my RC shop that night to make a 6061 finger guard so I could keep working at 100%. 2 piece and flexes in the middle so I can grab stuff again. Carved "moron guard" into it as a reminder to not be an idiot.

I have the same Drift chassis. Its a clone of the 3 Racing D5RR drift rig. Pretty much all the 3 racing items fit it if you're looking to upgrade it. just be sure to get the stuff for the D5RR not the D5MR as they are different platforms with SOME cross over parts.

Thank you sir! The cut didn't hurt too bad, but the novacaine injection before they sewed it up was one the most painful experiences of my life thus far. Nearly blacked out!

I found it on Amazon, one of those instances where I needed something to get free shipping, so I picked it up. It was pretty cheap IIRC. Needs the adjustable motor mount to work, comes with 2 belts and the gearing is pretty tall once installed (2.5:1). I have a smaller pinion from my SCX conversion if needed. It does turn super smooth and just running around the basement floor it's super quiet.

Great looking rig lineup. I really need to find a CC01. They look cool! I haven’t owned a Tamiya since my early RC days with my Hornet back in the ‘80’s.

I have one there too! X-acto blade slipped, cut, and stuck in the bone. I just used super glue and duck tape on that one, though I probably needed stitches. It left a decent scar - I wonder why? I can imagine the table saw cut right in there - ouch indeed!

As far as the CC, TamiyaUSA was blowing out the Defender CC01 before X-mas for $149. Couldn't resist. It's now back to $363 (!!)

I always like seeing those Bushidos. I like that Element released a 1/12 version which is scale next to other 1/10s.

It's a cool body. Kinda flying under the radar imo. Didn't do much other than detail the interior and add warm LED's ilo the cool ones.

Some more random stuff.

Finished the Astute and took it out for a quick rip on the driveway. It is indeed awesome!

Realized a had an unfinished OG hornet buried in my Tamiya pile. Dug it out, finished it up and plopped it down next to the EVO. Just waiting on some paint, I ran out of black. Should be fun running them back to back!

My latest crazy idea... IS Bully Beater? Found I could graft a front Slash 4x4 suspension on an old 'Pede transmission. Had one in the pile, and picked up another one. All spare parts for now, and lots of clearance issues to work out but it's an interesting concept.

Figured out how to mount an old SCX10 plow on my TRX4. Used my straight axle rig since the stance was a lot closer to what it was designed for. Works great! I do with I had one that could swivel side to side.

And jumped into the Optic fray. No build thread, everyone's already seen it all. Got as far as I could go without the correct third member (which is en-route I hope) I really like the cheapie Injora tires - I think they'll do very well on the terrain around here, but they look a bit too small for this platform. I've already switched them out with some others - not sure which I'll go with yet, but bigger definitely looks better.

Couple more random shots...

Finished the Hornet Evo. I also had an OG hornet kit stashed away, so I finished them together. Very cool kit! The Evo is painted gunmetal, I think it looks pretty rad with the decals myself. The OG is black with some gunmetal ghosts in the paint to break it up. It was a bit of an experiment, not sure I like it, but the concept is cool. Just need to figure out how to apply it better.

3rd member came in from VP, so I got the Optic buttoned up. Hated the Huf livery, so I just threw on some Holmes decals (since it's got a Holmes 5 pole brushed tucked in there, so why not) and some random sponsor decals. I hate the green, but not enough to pony up for a new panel set. Yet. The rear axle weights were cancelled by the seller (TReal) so I ordered some Meus ones instead, I'll swap them on whenever they get here.

And recent FB marketplace score. Chrome Pajero with very little runtime and a bunch of mods on it. It came with a freaking SWEET Izuzu body. It was professionally done at a body shop apparently, and it shows. Gorgeous, and in mint condition.

HR steering and links and an aluminum Integy axle which at first glance, looks pretty nice.

Futaba 3ch radio and a sport tuned motor. I'll be mining this one for parts, not sure what I want to do here yet, but sorting it all out is always fun.

Think I'm going to need a group CC01 thread, they are piling up again. I'm up to 5 or 6, it never seem to matter how many I sell off, I always seem to end up with a bunch. On the right is the Defender kit I picked up at Xmas for $140 with an older lexan 'Jero body.
