After a short break it was time to get started with the Supercrawler courses. All of the super crawler courses started with the same set of gates as the 2.2 courses. From there some had similar lines and some went off on their own.
Course #1 went for a sharp right turn, then climb a steep, short wall.
After you climbed the wall you hung a left turn, then a 180 degree right turn onto a huge side hill. The same one used for the 2.2 class.
After the side hill was, what I thought to be the hardest climb of the entire event, very few people made it to the top of this wall. Just to get your front tires on top was very difficult.
For the few that made it up that wall it was just a quick turn and you were out of the course.
Course #2 for the superclass started with the same wall climb as the 2.2 class, but instead of turning left you hung a sharp right and dropped right back off.
In this picture CSR chose to back down the wall, which was a wise choice considering how many front servos were killed on this course.
After that wall was another good sized drop off.
Then through a bouldery section that had an overhang that liked to grab onto those with larger tires.
When you got unstuck from the overhang you either hung a left and out the exit, or went straight for the negative bonus course. I am not aware of anyone making the bonus line.
Course 3 for the Supercrawlers started out on the same log as the 2.2 class. The log gave the Supers just as much trouble as the 2.2 Crawlers. If you made it across the log, you then had to climb this wall with a huge crack down it.
If you made it over the log and up the wall there was a small off camber section then it was down into "Dirk's Glory Hole", the hole had enough water in it to make even the Oregon guys proud. Once in the hole you had to make a 90 degree to the left and climb a big wall. As Sheldon found out, any mistake on this wall meant you were going to end up upsidedown, and risk frying your electronics.
When you made it to the top you did a u-turn to the right and dropped off into the next bowl over. From there it was just a simple 10 foot drive to the exit. The little nub on the right hand side of the dropoff loved to grab your tire and hold you back. While setting up the courses I hit it so many times it stripped my brand new 1/4 scale servo.
