Stage 3 Racing dig unit, potential patent infringement
This thread is just a FYI on Stage 3 Racing's business practices. You probably already know what he did to Bonus Line:
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124921 http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117750 Over the weekend it came to my attention that DNA R/C Products has been in contact with Stage 3 Racing about patent infringement with their blatant copy of DNA's Dig unit. This is just an informational thread, I am in no way telling you who to support and who not to. I have to say I am very happy with my decision to permanently ban Stage 3 Racing from RCC. |

I am very proud to be a member of RCC right now. I saw S3R dig and immediately knew something like this should happen. The S3R guys should be ashamed of themselves producing a basically copied design. Good Job Don protecting your design, that was a very wise business decision. I will continue to be a loyal supporter of this community and support its vendors. Great work guys.

Good job guys! I'm glad for one that RCC got involved and took and stand against this type of infringement and two protects us from them. And good for them for protecting their product!

maybe you should look at stage 3's dig again !
looks like a big improvment to me, something well needeed. yes at first glance they look the same but it is not. anybody that makes an enclosed dig unit would almost have to follow the ax-10 case shape.. but this one you use as 1/2 of the case.. and the inside is different, also the end plate.. does not look anything like a blatant copy to me...JMO Quote:

what is the patent number?

I was just wondering, thats all. So why can't he just check like the patent office then, to find out that DNA already has a patent on that design.

Something well needed? I have not had one issue from my sons' DNA R/C dig whatsoever. He can have it in the worst bind known to crawlers and it will lock and unlock with no questions asked. If people would not be in such a hurry to slam it in there and would use a little common sense and read the instructions and set their EPA's properly, there would hardly be any problems. When people install the servos on the unit, they need to have the servo horn disconnected from the servo. Turn your EPA's all the way down, then install the horn to where it would be in freewheel. Then slowly adjust it in and out.
Took me all of 30 mins or less to install the unit and set it up |
