After several emails and PM's, I decided to make a writeup of a modification you can do to your EVX to be able to run only one battery. The first person to do this was Kevinlongisland, but in the article he wrote the pics don't work anymore So I decided to write another.

This mod has been done by alot of people (myself included) and I have not had any problems reported as of yet in over a year. To achieve 14.4 volts, the EVX internally connects the two batteries in series. By shorting the one connector, the input circuitry receives the voltage of one battery instead of the sum of both batteries. It is a rather simple mod.

When you first look at the EVX, you will see a "Novak" sticker in the top right corner and a "Serviced by Traxxas" sticker in the left corner.

Now you will be shorting the side on the left (serviced by traxxas side). To make sure you have the correct side, plug a battery into the battery connector. If the red light comes on, this is the side you leave alone. The side that DOES NOT light the red light up, will be the side you short out. In the to the left, you will see the red light on. That is the side that will stay connected to a battery.
Now that you have figured out which side to short, you need to make a connector. You can just cut the battery plug off, but you will lose your warranty through Traxxas if something ever did happen to it. I found an old battery I had laying around and cut the end off of that. This will now be used to short out the connector. The pic shows the connector, but I had not soldered it yet or insulated it. After you make the connector, make sure to either use heat shrink on it or use electrical tape.

Now you can plug it in to the left side of the EVX. After it is all done, it should be connected like the pic to the left.

After this mod, you can ditch the other motor as well. Wire tie the connector and excess motor wires out of the way, plug it all in and go wheeling!

Tip*- DO NOT use the stock TITAN motor. It is a 14.4 volt motor and will only run half speed on 7.2 volts. This mod works best with a motor intended to be ran on 7.2 volts (Ex.- 55t Lathe motor, magnetic mayhem ,etc.)

Tip*- Remember not to cut any wires or you will have trouble keeping your warranty with Traxxas.
